Spent the past hour and a half applying for more jobs. Don't know how much luck I'll have given the two big strikes against me right now - I can't drive (yet) and my credit history sucks to fucking hell and back b/c I have too many credit cards and the payments are all so late I want to cry. Fuck it. Nothing I can do about it right now. I just wish jobs didn't check credit reports when hiring, that makes my life like fifty times more difficult. ARGH.

Time to study the driver's manual. I think maybe this underlying stress about a job is why I haven't been able to write all week. That or I really am as lazy as I occasionally say I am.

Blah blah blah.

Course what they never realize is that people who owe money want to get a job to pay that money off....by not hiring someone it defeats the purpose.

Remember, if you are applying with a local temp agency, you have to call them everyday. Everyday. Otherwise never expect anything.

urg.

Networking is good too. That's how I got my most recent job, and the fellowship that I got for grad school. Network until your brain fries. It actually does work. ;)

I didn't realize they did that.
Well, once you get your license one less thing to worry about.

Hear back from your Ikonn interview? I may have heard this, but don't shy away from calling them to let them know you're still interesed and/or thank them for the interview.

Since Goofy mentioned them, I have found that temp agencies are a good way to get into jobs. In fact, it was nearly impossible for me get one without them. My current job I got because someone from one of those jobs knew my current boss. Took a while for me to network ^^ I can provide info on the local agencies if you ever need it.

Haven't heard back yet - I was supposed to hear back w/in a week, meaning by today, which is partly why I'm down.

Thankee muchly! I'll be sure to pester you if I wind up temping.

Call em up. Pester the hell outta them. They kept telling S they'd be in touch over and over, until we convinced her to call them back alot until they got her a job.

If they didn't call you yet CALL THEM! That is really the only way to get a job right now. You have to keep pestering them so they know you REALLY want a job. Think about it, if you were a company would you rather hire someone that calls you all the time to get updates and is all motivated or someone that just sits by the phone? Companies want motivated people. Did you remember to send you a thank you for the interview letter after your interview?
