I've got a few idea stewing, mostly b/c I'm a dumbass and don't know when to stop putting stuf on my proverbial plate.

First off: I am tired of saying "someday" so I have decided that upon my return from Michigan I am going to crack down and finish one of my stories for submission. The question is - which one? My darling sister [livejournal.com profile] rykaine proposed Unequal Children, which happens to be the one my mom was particularly vehement about. The second choice was Treasure (which I am loathe to choose simply b/c I'd have to eventually take it offline and I don't want to do that to my precious readers). Opinions?

Second. I was thinking of doing a contest at some pointa - probably something along the lines of determining the best writer of fluff. Seeing as it's the one genre I am probably fit to judge. I am still debating it. I think it would be fun, but I've never done anything like that so we'll see.

Third. This is a long term thing. But I need an early start, which means I need idea. I was thinking of doing a "12 Days of Christmas" story thing. But I only have three ideas for stories. Wan to suggest nine more? And of course if someone wants to participate in the writing, by all means say so. That would be all kinds of fun.

1. A Story about Jack Frost and the rebellious son of Santa Klause
2. Slashy rewrite of The Nutcracker Suite, thank you rykaine for the idea
3. Something obnoxiously sweet involving 'The 12 Days of Christmas' b/c my dorkness demands it.
4. Mall Santa story, thank you jagen13 for the idea
5. Some sort of angel story, just because

I only request the second because I used to see the ballet every Christmas at the Ford theater or wherever....

I wonder what happens if Clara is Krad and the sugar plum fairy is a naughty, jealous ex...

Just kidding! Go about your work.

A Christmas in July contest! (<--ignore me, it's entirely too early for my brain to have free range of the keyboard.)

Still, if you put it on, I'd participate. :3

Duly noted. Maybe I should seriously start looking into how to run a contest.

9.9 I’d love to say something about slowing down and giving yourself time to think, but I’ve got an entire buffet full at the moment, so...

First off: I am tired of saying "someday"... Hooray!

Sci-fi and fantasy is the easiest genre to get published in, so either way, you’ve got a little bit of a head start with your two selections that you would a “real world” story. I’d go more with Unequal Children as it would probably be the one out of the two I’d be most likely to take home. (But, I’m not a big sci-fi/fantasy reader, so take that with a grain of salt. =/ What I read and what the typical fan reads may be two completely different things.)

Second.... You could do a challenge. That way you don’t have to turn your brain inside-out to decide which one you like best?

Third... Take as many Christmas songs that you can think of and write a story for each. (XD And the first one to pop into my head after I wrote that was “Here Comes Santa Claus” in a very perverse sense. You HAVE to do a mall Santa in there somewhere.)

Hee. Yes, I think I've got a ways to go before I can catch up to your ambitions. But I'm really looking forward to the release of ELD. I'm not much of a journalist, but if there's ever anything else I can do to help with that, let me know.

I think I am going to go with Unequal, and thanks for the input.

A challenge is a good idea, hmm....

And lastly I will never be able to hear that song again without dissolving into snickers. And a mall Santa would rock, you are awesome.
