However, beginning writers don't need agents, according to Orson Scott Card (in his Writing SF book) whose books I've mentioned. This agency charges a fee for helping to get a publisher to take your book. Essentially, you can submit the same thing to a publisher as you would submit to them. As far as that, the information on their page is fairly helpful. However, you may be better off directly going to a publisher, perhaps reading some books with tips on getting published.
According to Stackpole, writings earn about 6% to 10% on the cover price of book sales. He has various information about being a writer at http://www.stormwolf.com/ under Essays at the bottom (some good information in his essays on Used Books and Advice to Beginning Writers).
I imagine other writers might have web pages with such helpful information. I'd be interested in reading those too.
Anyway, how much their 10% fee cuts into your end earnings I cannot guess (perhaps none if they get you a better deal or a lot if they don't).

Everything I've ever read says you won't get anywhere w/out an agent. Guess I'd better look more into it.
