I was going to bitch about FBT and my coworkers, b/c I'm heartily sick of being stomped on and expected to work my old shift and new one and yet no one else is.

But I'm sick of it, everyone else is sick of it, so fuck it.

Blew money on books again. I have so much control when it comes to other things, but books? My Fatal Weakness.

Was going to get This Scepter'd Isle by Mercedes Lackey and Roberta Gellis, b/c I love the historic fantasy books Lackey cowrites.

But then I saw The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon and even though it was more expensive, I realized I badly needed it ^^;

Was done, walking to the checkout counter, when something pink on the very bottom shelf of the New Releases shelf turned out to be The Secret History of the Pink Carnation by Lauren Willig. Must. Have. Book (thank you, Tenshi).

It's very good so far, and about the only reason I haven't started screaming in misery and stabbing my selfish, lazy coworkers. But one of my fav books has always been The Scarlet Pimpernel (which, as much as I love the musical, is by far the coolest version). Spies, bashing of the French, cute snarky boys and cool chicks. Yeah, I like this book.

I haven't had this much fun with a book in ages. Most stuff I read is so serious - Pink Carnation is hysterical. I don't even remember the last time I read about a het couple that wasn't annoying or trite.
