My rage cannot be described. I heard this ad on the radio last night, and if I'd had access to the internet, you would have been forced to endure a temper tantrum. You may yet.

So the ad started out as a man and woman at the gym, the guy complainin how it "just wasn't doing any good" and the woman goes on to talk about this cosmetic (laser!!11!) surgery place..."for those of us that just need a little help"

WHAT THE HELL!?!?!? When did it become acceptable to basically say "surgery for those of us who are a bit on the ugly side" WTF, Mate. I was utterly disgusted and thoroughly enfuriated. Where is the Book of Beauty Standards By Which All Must Abide. Let me tell you, that is one book I would heartily approving of burning. I wasn't aware that if you're less that what society considers beautiful, you need help and should get cosmetic surgery posthaste.

Either tell the world to fuck off or go to the gym and stop eating crap. In fact, do all of the above.

*seethes*

You go girl.

and people wonder why everyone's so obsessed with beauty.

If people obsessed half so much about being reasonably intelligent, the world would be an amazing place.

I fondly remember the time I woke up after surgery and all the doctors were horrified that I was ugly because I didn't have a pig face like them (I don't mean ugly, I mean pig people). They were then going to send a colony of others like me.

Oh wait, that was a Twilight Zone episode. My point is that beauty is kind of subjective.

It's quite the dream world.

Of course, all the intelligence would freak the beauty obsessed people out.

...

I say we try it :D

Well stated in typical Tony fashion.

I shall combat this by watching Fat Actress tonight. (I really like Kirstie's "I just like food!" approach as upposed to blaming it on a medical disorder or other outside forces.)

wow. and the world gets more and more shallow.
beauty should be celebrated in the fact that there are millions of ways to be beautiful, and the textbook example isn't amoung them. >.

Okay, agreed that is a hideous commercial and a hideous notion...

...but it's kind of funny that it was on the radio. I mean, maybe the guy truly has a face for radio. ;-> You know me, always in search of the amusement in life.
