Listening to people talk about their weddings? Going through one?

My parents have told us all our lives to elope. I never truly appreciated why. M, D - rest assured that should the world and I get married, the wedding will proceed thus:

Justice of the Peace, then a hoe down at my place. All who can read this are cordially invited should the day ever arise.

But the reception was fun, and the ceremony was nice even if I was rolling my eyes over most of it (further note to self: don't marry a catholic. you would just embarass them).

So. Fucking. Tired. Plan to get some sleep and then, as we no longer seem to be moving furniture, will do some writing. Want to write some ficbits and then spend the rest of the day on Treasure and Prisoner (which is becoming clear to me at last. w00t!)

OH! Some evil reviewer on fp.com today said she loved Statue and would love to see a story about Victor all grown up. I immediately shut my brain off.

If and when I get married, it's in Vegas. It'll be my excuse to go see the lights of the strip. =) Screw what my husband wants.

I believe the wedding is when it finally strikes men that the only words they need to know from then on out are "yes" and "dear" XP

Everybody I know wants to do Vegas. I've never really been interested.

I figure we should just go back to the days of handfasting. That'd eliminate all sorts of ceremonial issues.

I wouldn't suggest marrying into Easter Orthodox, either. You'd likely come out just as badly. (No offense meant or anything) I fully intend to stay far away from a religious ceremony, as my ability to keep my mouth shut would be put sorely to the test. And I doubt I'd be victorious. I'd inevitably offend someone.

Likely the groom's mother. And wouldn't that be a travesty...

Trust me, justice of the peace is *definitely* the way to go. Of course, I might be biased since that's how I did it. ^_~ (Heehee, my bouquet was a bunch of tiger lilies that I'd picked from the flowers planted in front of my apartment building...)

I rather like the idea of Church weddings even if my religiousity can be questioned.

It's probably because I like those dramatic moments when someone runs up to the window on the second floor that overlooks the main hall and ceremony while shouting, "No! No!" And then they have to shoot through it.

And then the mob rushes in with their dark suits and sunglasses and a massive firefight begins. Oh wait, that was a Dirty Pair episode.

Actually, a handfasting is just sort of a test period. My housemate and her husband were handfasted. It is supposed to last a year and a day. During that time, I believe the woman is supposed to prove her fertility by having a child. If she doesn't, the man has the right to decide not to marry her if he wishes.

Me, I'm with M. If I ever decide to marry, I'm eloping.

My father, when he learned that the lower cost of weddings was somewhere around ten thousand, and that the bride's family is expected to cover the bulk of the cost, did some quick calculations (four daughters X tens of thousands of dollars = a whole lotta money), and declared that if we wanted to elope, we had his blessings. Indeed; when he learned how much a dowry it would cost him to stick any of us into a convent, he highly encouraged us to elope.

Except me, because he wants me to remain single so he can move in with me and be supported once he retires.

Oddly enough, I feel that I am more corrupt than the average Protestant. >_> Ah, but 'tis a fun corruption! (We Traditionalists have all the wackos.)

Since we're on the subject of marriages, I figure now would be as good a time as any -

I adore your icon. Every time I see it, I want to run off with it and get married. I don't know why; it must be the angle.

Your icon and my icon would make very handsome babies, if the Naruto dub actually did make Haku into a girl.
