Five hours of reading later, I am very O_o The seventh book is going to be...something.

Called the potion book (and thererby the halfblood prince).

Called Dumbledore

Addendum to my list of denials. Under "Sirius isn't dead" you can add "Snape isn't really a backstabbing little rat" because if he is? I'm going to be *severely* disappointed with Rowling for being that boring and trite.

Also called Draco. But really I think most of us did.

And now I'm off to sleep, though my mind is still too keyed up to let me rest. I liked this book, it was laid-back and intense all at once. Will discuss more when I do not risk spoiling things with my babble.

It's interesting, everyone seems to think that Snape is some sort of backstabbing rat, but to me he made one of the biggest sacrifices in the series, thus far. I'm hardly a Snape apologist, he's never been a favourite character or anything like that, but he really had no choice but to kill Dumbledore. I mean, what would have happened if he HADN'T would have been pretty grim:

1. Snape himself would have died, and he would have broken his bond/promise.
2. Narcissa, Draco and Lucius would have been killed.
3. Dumbledore would have been killed anyway.

And, most importantly, I think ...

4. The 'good guys' would have lost their strongest weapon in the fight against Voldemort, as Snape would have been branded a traitor/unworthy. Without Snape and the inside information he could provide, then, chances are, no-one would have any idea what Voldemort was doing.

Dumbledore can be replaced - in a way, he's already been done so by Harry - but there is no-one who can fill Snape's shoes. It's something that both Snape and Dumbledore knew, and it's why, I think, Snape makes his line about 'cowardness'. By killing Dumbledore, Snape sacrificed everything he's worked so hard for up until that point so that he could keep his undercover position. Snape has now lost everything he's worked so hard towards since the first war against Voldemort, every ounce of security, respect, and prestige that he had to fight tooth and nail for his gone. The one person who had utter faith in him is gone. His beloved dream of being Dark Arts teacher is up in smoke. Snape now has nothing, and he didn't have it taken away from him, he gave it all up - and it's why he despised being called a coward by Harry.

At least, that's my interpretation ^^. Snape and Draco became truly interesting characters for the first time for me in this book ^^

I seriously doubt Snape is evil. It was just a rough scene and I'd been away for 30+ hours straight. My first thought when he did it was that I'd hate to have to be in Snape's position. I agree with you 100%, it just sucks that Harry isn't going to figure it out until too damn late (probably ).

I am in the same denial x.x And I think for the same reason. It's boring and trite and it makes Potter even more of a Sue x.x I hate main characters who are NEVER WRONG and so far the only thing Harry's been consistently wrong about so far was Snape. Until now x.x
