My sister told of the newest and latest and now my favoritest theory regarding the end of HBP



So Snape wasn't really Snape, but somebody drinking a polyjuice potion.

Completely ignoring the logic that destroys that, who in his right mind would be suicidal enough to lock Snape in a closet and impersonate him? Let's go, gimme your best theories. I know what lurks on my flist.

Because, you know, if you really wanted to get back at your slightly-more-evil twin brother, running off with his minion's body works really well.

I secretly suspect though that Snape told Dumbledore of the promise that he made, and Dumbledore figured himself to be a needed sacrifice so they had someone trusted in which to sneak Harry to Voldemort. Or not. Because Harry trusts Snape as far as he can throw him, and Harry can't throw people too far.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say Dumbledore isn't dead. He drank that potion and immediately wanted Snape. Of course, I still hold out that Sirius isn't dead so maybe it's just wishful thinking? She's just killing off way too many powerful wizards.

I dunno. Sirius I still think isn't quite dead yet. But Volde feared Dumbledore and there was no way he'd get all he wanted with Dumbledore still around.

But then again, he did send *Draco* to kill him, which makes me wonder what he was really up to because the logical thing would have been to make Snape do it in the first place.

He wanted Draco dead, and was convinced that Draco would be killed in any attempt to get to Dumbledore. Which is why Narcissa was having kittens at the thought, and asked Severus to keep an eye on her baby boy.

My theory is thus:

Sirius: Not dead.
Dumbledore: Also not dead.
Snape: Using the illusion of killing Dumbledore to ultimately prove his good intentions to Voldemort (And keeping the Draco and the Death Eaters from actually doing harm to the big D) thus returning to good graces and becoming the ultimate undercover spy.
