Raccoons!

So cute.

Hear this awful screeching/whining and figured it was some animal and would stop soon.

Wasn't stopping, and when I went to get coffee I realized it was awfull damn close to the back door. So I went outside, didn't see anything but heard a scrapping in the garbage can - and looked in to see not one but three raccoons trapped inside. They stop crying and scratching and just look at me. Just sit looking and waiting like they knew i could save them or leave them to their misery.

So I tipped the trashcan over and let them out, and they wandered up onto the porch and then into the backyard.

I probably should have done worse or something but they were so cute and pitiful looking...

But no, it really happened. They were the Cutest. Things. Ever. You should have seen their eyes, *exact* definition of wibbly.

Which reminds me I need to go put hte trashcan rightside up again. They were so bold, when climbed on the porch. I had to run inside because I thought they were coming after me at first.

I wish I'd gotten pictures, but sadly I didn't think of it at the time. but I'm sure they'll be back, and get themselves stuck again, so maybe next time.

Raccoons! My favourite animals ever! While, yes, it might seem strange for a New Zealander who has never before seen one in person to squee so much over an animal that is generally consider a pest by those who ARE familiar with them, I've loved them since I was a kiddie. Aw, I can still remember Racy, my pet toy raccoon that I got for my 8th birthday. I still have her somewhere, she's too precious to ever throw out ^^. She was immortalised forever (well, for a couple of months) one year when we spelt out her name in huge rocks at the bottom of the crater of one of our local volcanoes.

Such a dork. But, racoons = love.
