Movie Report
Aug. 6th, 2005 07:58 pmLoved Sky High. Was a cute, funny, generally good movie. I mean don't expect rocket science or anything, but it was good for what it was and I enjoyed it immensely.
After four viewings, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory still ranks as Supremely Awesome. Of course I am a sad fangirl so I'm sure I'm biased.
Charlie rubbed his eyes, mumbling and muttering to himself the formulae and recipes he needed to write down before he finally went to bed. He really should have known better than to stay up 'til all hours - Mum would be furious, when she got hold of him, for missing not one but three dinners.
And the glass elevator was not helping at all, with the abrupt turns and jerks and drops and rises. On the other hand, it was mostly keeping him awake. If he'd taken the boat he'd be fast asleep, new and changed recipes forgotten. Of course the Oompa-Loompas had probably recorded everything, they were meticulous, but Charlie liked to write what he came up with down himself. Even after a decade of working in the factory, he wasn't as comfortable as Willy with ordering the Oompa-Loompas to such trivial tasks.
His hands caught him on a sharp turn, all but saving him from cracking his head open. Perhaps he should have taken the boat - usually he was steadier but exhaustion was making him clumsy.
The elevator stopped outside the taffy room, and then the elevator was filled with the scent of saltwater taffy - coconut, strawberry banana, sour apple...and under it all the rich, dark chocolate that could only be Willy Wonka. Charlie opened his heavy eyes and smiled. He started to speak, but as the elevator began once again to move he tumbled back.
But instead of the back of his head meeting glass, he found his forehead pressed against silk and velvet, a steadying arm around his waist. "I was starting to wonder when you'd stop," Willy Wonka said in his laughing voice. "Thought maybe you were trying to outwork the Oompa-Loompas."
If he'd been wide awake, Charlie would have leapt away, mortified and cherry-red. But he was tired, and Willy felt warm and nice, and smelled so sweet...The faint brush of lips on his cheek and a soft laugh in his ear was the last thing Charlie noted before he succumbed to sleep.

Newer Resident Evil movies might not suck/or introduce characters you like:

I also hear that The Brothers Grimm is coming out Aug 26th so I will probably try to convince you to go see that with me. It would probably scare S. Though I am going on vacation on the 29th.
