Amusement factor for the evening

maderrReal quick, before I forget - I extended the challenge deadline to the end of august so I expect certain people to be emailing me in the next couple of weeks XD XD.
Anyway, was doing research on manacles - because I'm usually lazy about details and this scene is important enough that I want details for once and for them to be accurate. Anyway, just basic info - more than the usual "clap them in irons' stuff* (I'm trying to stay awake, work with me here) and googling this for sheer amusment brought up of course the requisite BDSM sites...but also a fair number of religious sites.
I am amuzed (but not surprised, hmm...)
Okay, off to do less amusing research now.
*specifically, I just wanted a good idea of weight, how long before they begin to cut into your skin, how prisoners would be chained in and out of a cell, how hard it would be to move (on second thought I guess I could just check the bdsm sites...), that sort of thing. Hollywood really isn't a reliabe source and my practical exp is nonexistant.

Anyone interested in suspension play uses purpose built suspension cuffs because even padded leather wrist restraints can do permanent nerve damage to a subbie's wrist in a very short amount of time. The risk of permanent damage means that responsible Tops won't use hard manacles when there is any chance of weight/pressure on the wrist.
I suspect the bdsm resources are going to say "don't do it because of thus and so" and not "do it only for this long"
If you're doing further research on bdsm sites, try searching under "shackles" which is probably used more frequently than "manacles" in the scene.
