Jan. 12th, 2006 09:16 pmFive Simple Pleasures I Enjoy:
1. Reading (duh)
2. Coffee, esp. with my family
3. Music I can sing and/or dance to
4. Long walks in the earliest hours of the morning
5. Being nonsensical
Five Weird Things About Me:
1. I love sour & bitter things. Probably has to do with the whole 'must be contrary' aspect of my personality.
2. I love white grapes but don't care for white wine; hate red grapes but adore a good red wine
3. I have a weird obsession with suicide songs, or songs that relate to suicide somehow (Like 'On the Roof Again' isn't really about suicide, but it's part of the song). Only have three or four now to my collection, but I know them by heart or practically. Couldn't tell you why I'm obsessed, really. Just am. (song play now is one of them)
4. I loathe, despite, detest being touched softly. My family and friends will tell you, I freak when I'm touched gently. I would rather you grab my shoulder or somehow injure me than tap me lightly. There are people I've nearly swung around and hit for doing it. Again, don't know why. It just spazzes me out hardcore.
5. I already have made plans for what I will be like as an old lady. I am very much looking forward to it. There will be a fuck-off cane, bright colored turbans with feathers, and mcuh terrorizing of the neighborhood kids. It will be glorious.
And now I am off to read and go sleepy. The hardest part, as I've probably said a bajillion times already, about working in a law firm is that things don't wind down at the end of the week - Thursday and Friday are a living fucking hell. We must be the only business that regards Friday with equal parts joy and loathing.

Date: 2006-01-13 03:23 am (UTC)I myself have a predilection towards really dark, depressing songs. Though not suicide songs specifically. There is something about being carried along on a wave of sadness not fully your own.
#4
I will try to remember the no comforting pats on the shoulder then. Though I'm not certain how one would deliver a comforting punch.
I really have no such thing. However when people who are not so much friends as strangers or acquaintances get in my personal space or touch me, I am tempted to grab their heads and slam them into the nearest object. Though as I'm not a body builder, I would likely realistically have to resort to kung fu rather than brute force.

'comforting punch' Lol. I'm not sure how that would be possible either. Kung Fu!Tony when strangers cop a feel eh?

Date: 2006-01-13 01:42 pm (UTC)And Richard Buckner's gorgeous "22":
Well the towel was lyin' open
And it didn't hurt so bad
There was red smoke in the water
...Now honey, you don't need my heart
Now that I'm dead and gone
So dig me up and give me back
What I never should've lost"
And the saddest violin part I think I've ever heard.
