so the idea
Feb. 14th, 2006 01:51 pmStill kinda rough.
Like I said, loosely based on the Palace of Keys (another story I need to finish, *sigh*...).
So.
Two parts to participation, and though I think it'd be more fun if everyone does both parts, totally fly if they do one or the other.
Anyway. Part the first - submitting characters. I don't know if they should be set in a common 'verse' or not. For obvious reasons that would be easier, but for other obvious reasons that's nigh on impossible. But Part one everyone submits a characters, up to two per person. Probably would set that to end in a month.
At the end of that month, all the characters go in the proverbial hat and everyone that wants to write a story submits two numbers. Numbers = chars = the story about whom you must write.
Still with me?
Probably set a deadline of around three months for that part.
Anyone want to play? Someone want to help me set this up? Wonder who else would want to play. If I get enough interested here, I'll set it all up tonight (at least a formal post, website will have to come later).
Feel free to refine, improve, etc. I'm at work and even though I'm at lunch the boss is ever talking shop so my head is in like three places.
But that's the rough of it. So - who's playing?

Date: 2006-02-14 08:18 pm (UTC)Say Beej, you and I play. We each come up with two characters. We put them in a hat. We draw names. You have to write a story with the two chars you get.

Date: 2006-02-14 08:24 pm (UTC)It doesn't really make a difference; I know I'd flunk it. But like I said, if you want help putting it together, I can do that.

Date: 2006-02-14 08:38 pm (UTC)That's the part where everyone draws names. I knew I wasn't explaining it well, that's why I don't usually do stuff like this. Part one is where everyone puts 'names' in the hat. Part two is where everyone draws. But not everyone who does part one has to do part two and not everyone who does part two has to do part one.
Mergh =_= I'll try to explain better tonight.

Date: 2006-02-14 08:43 pm (UTC)Look nevermind. You're obviously going to expound upon and clarify things later, and I'm just looking/feeling more and more like an idiot as this goes along.
It sounds fun. It really does. I hope it goes well for you.

Date: 2006-02-14 08:47 pm (UTC)Eh. I just meant each character will be assigned a number, since I figured that'd be the easiest way to draw names.
Nah. My bad ^^ I shouldn't try to do anything when I'm A)Rushed and 7) terrified boss will see.

Date: 2006-02-14 09:09 pm (UTC)Mor likely, I'll just randomly assign chars to participants, since that makes more sense. Numbers was just idiot me thinknig aloud and sticking too close to the idea of drawing names rather than being practical.

Date: 2006-02-14 09:25 pm (UTC)Maybe you could do character types? Like, I'd draw "a pirate" and "a hypochondriac"? Or "angsty teenager" and "hobo"? Stuff like that? I know those are pretty bad examples, but you get the idea. That kills some of the fun of playing in the different fandom, but then everyone could participate. Hell, for added grins, I think we should have to draw from a list of settings on that as well. (Werewolf, catboy, deserted island. Ready, set, write.)
However you do it, I'll submit and play along. =)

Date: 2006-02-14 11:54 pm (UTC)Original. I'm insane, I'm not so loco as to attempt fandom. 'Sides, that would defeat the purpose of people creating characters.
And no worries, there will be deadlines ^_~
All will be finalized and posted by the weekend (more likely over the weekend).

Date: 2006-02-15 02:22 am (UTC)No unverise to know. It'll all be orignal. I just mean modern day vs. sci-fi vs. fantasy. Too many different kinds of verses would make it hard for writers when they get say a cowboy from the wild west and a dragon from ye olde fantasy land.
