I have so many songs, I forget I have some of them. Something comes up on my playlist and I'm like "WTF is this?" Then I look it up, remember, and go ^_^ Oh, yeah!
Sad, sad, sad.

>.> Obviously I need to steal your song collection. I was just telling Mikey I needed more, and then when we compared collections I had like three times as much only like 2/3 of mine is all in Japanese. >.>; Or Russian. ^^;;; Heh.
Dude, I lack foreign language stuffs. wait 'til this weekend, when I have time for that sort of thing, I'll trade you whatever you want of mine for Jap and Russian stuffs.
It's pretty good. If you'd like, I'll upload it to ysi.com for you. ^_^
{Amusingly enough, it appears in an album called "Where's Neil When You Need Him?", which is an album by different musicians being inspired by Neil Gaiman's work. Wow.}
Another couple of amusing songs are "Open Letter to Madonna", and something about Conduleeza Rice. I don't know how to spell her name.
Pandora.com is a hell of a place to find music you don't expect to hear.
I was just going to ask for like your favorite 20 or whatnot. But far be it for me to complain if we do it your way ^_~ I'll have to start burniung stuff, too, then, though I don't think I can burn dvds. Hmmm...will make do.
Favorite? o.o; Riiiiiiiight. >.> I tell WinAmp to play directories rather than choose anything. ^^;
9.9 Most newer computers come with DVD-burners, but anything more than a year or two old only came with players. I had to buy mine myself. ^^ ... >.> ... and then Mikey's for him... ^^;;;
Unfortunately only four songs left. ;_; I forgot I lost so many when my computer crashed... Nautilus Pompilius' "On The Bank Of Uncalled River" and "Proshal'noe pis'mo" .... Kino's "The Star Called "Sun""... 9.9 and I never did figure out who the artist was for Anthill....
Heh. ^^ I got these four about ten years ago from a friend in Moscow. 9.9 Evgenie with the last name I still can't spell. ^^; That was during the era of my life when I was trying to explore my heritage. Obviously I didn't get very far. ;)
9.9 I keep meaning to have you translate that little dangly thing of mine too. >.>; Bad kitty. ^^ Trying to look up each individual word one character at a time is a pain in the ass. ^^v
Hoe? o.o; .... >.> .... it all looks like squiggles mating to me.... ^^;; I think once upon a time I got as far as the first two words before my brain exploded. *nod* ^.^
I guess it shows how far I've come that it doesn't look like squiggles to me? heh eh...
I'd have to pull out my dictionary for some of it, but what I can tell just now is it has the ornament number followed by (I think) a notation that it's based upon some work by Aleksei Kochupalovii (and I totally just fucked up his name >_< I suck). Then that last sentence I can't make out at all.
Stupid cases and declensions. Yeah, my degree takes me places. ^_^
Could be worse. ^^ I bought an antique German book for a friend who'd taken German in HS and she was attempting to read it in the car... What she said was: "A... P.... um... .... spermie?...." I almost crashed. ^^;;;
Awww... ;_; I was hoping it had the story to go with the picture on the front... *pout* Aleksei, huh? >.> ... One of you Derr sisters needs to use that in a story. It's pretty. ^^;
o.O; Woah, waitasec... that upside-down v is an L?!? x.x;; *dies* No wonder I couldn't look anything up...
I'd imagine it's taken from a folk tale of some sort. The illustration is of that nature. The title is "The Magic Three"; which doesn't sound readily familiar, but then, I haven't read every Russian fairy tale. Yet.
Oh, I probably will at some point. It's one of my favorite Russian names.
Heh. It really did look like one too! I don't think we ever figured out what letter it was supposed to be, because neither of us could look at the book without laughing. ^^;;
o.o .... *supersleuths off in search of mysterious fairytale*
YAY! ^__________________^ Wasn't there a similarly named guy(prince?) in one of the Ivan tales...? 9.9 Hmm...
;_; I have a cute little transliteration guide at the front of both of my dictionaries, but... but... those letters looked nothing like the letters on the prettydangly! x.x Stupid cursive...
Good luck in your search. My googling keeps giving me shit about "magic beans".
I wanna say he's in like "Ivan and the Wolf," actually. And probably a bunch of others. Lyosha and Vanchka get around a lot in the fairy tales. ^_^
Ha, you should see the cursive I had to write. You start looping Мs and Лs and <>И</>s and damned if you know what the fuck you just wrote anymore. I'll have to get a snapshot of some of my work sometime.
Just be glad it wasn't Old Church Slavonic. A quarter of those letters don't exist at all and the rest you're willing to doubt on principle. The script in your dangly thing is a good impression of Old Church, actually.
Well... it's wasn't my intent to turn you away from your studies. ^^;
Old Church Slavonic is more or less the alphabet as it was when originally conceived. You mostly see it any more in churches, on icons, or fancy... things. The scripts style used for your dangly is of a similar style as Old Church, though the letters themselves are very much modern Cyrillic.
They just use the style 'cause they're out to get me it looks prettier.
Cursive Japanese is the most evil thing ever created by man, with the possible exception of cursive Chinese. x.x It actually makes less sense than Arabic. :P
*nods blankly and pretends she understood a word of that* ^_____________________^;;
It's really old writing that looks really good, but no one except monks with little to do the fill the hours anyway can read. And then they borrow the font to use with the modern letters to make everything look "better".
Kinda like when we get happy with the fancy calligraphy on certificates.
I fsking hate calligraphic Japanese. It's pretty...but I dont' think even the Japs can read it. They lie through their fucking teeth. "Oh, it means 'by the shadow of the moon, I wait for thee" or some crap when all it probabl says is "Your mama was here and she rocked all night"
