that's why i wait for my friends to watch an anime till the end, tell me if it had a happy or sad ending, then i watch it myself. It means I'm perpetually behind times, but I save myself a lot of heartache. But anyways. Would you like a pretty?
Aha! You see, I was going to say that. --But I'd feel bad, since I watched Romeo's Blue Skies recently, and besides being one of the most slashy-est anime on earth, it was an angst fest. :(

Well honestly I don't think the Japanese thinks that happy samurais are cool. One of the job requrements kinda is to die honorably on a battlefield watching the cherry blossoms fall. It is much more poetic than a happily married samurai who likes to play go. You can't really write haiku about that. But I agree, there SHOULD be more happy samurai stories, they could run away with their pretty boy lovers and become rounin!! My Japanese tandempartner told me that homosexuality wasn't only accepted in those day, but that it actually was part of bushido...that almost made me die laughing!!
