I think I found a second favorite drink.

Watching Nero Wolfe.

Would give pretty much anything for a story written in this era with detective smexing. Or detectives smexing cops *___*

Ah, well.

I can't write it. Period stuffs are beyond my ability.

Still, I would put out give damn near anything for a detective story like this, but with slash. The depths to which I love Nero Wolfe and Archie Goodwin pretth much know no bounds. I wish more than anything I could write real detective fiction. *sigh*

But, though I apparently can write much, real detective fiction eludes me. Along with westerns and horror.

Mmmmmm, martinis.

Well, I have this tip for you: never try to write a murder mystery for NaNoWriMo. I did that last year.

I think the problem with detective fiction is that it needs to be very tightly plotted and there isn't much room for the characters to move. That's what led me to skip the second storyline in my NaNo and just go to the romance plot, anyway.

I second your desire for slashy detective fiction, though.

I have to admit that I've spent more than a few guilty hours reading Wolfe/Archie slash online... but then I can never bring myself to read any of the books for a couple of weeks afterwards because I feel like I've somehow affronted Wolfe's dignity. ^_^ (Damn, there was this strangely good Saul/Cramer story going around there for a while too... great Stout-ish dialogue. Rrr. I should keep better track of my guilty pleasures.)

On an unrelated note, I just read through half your site to cleanse my palette after reading through what might have been the longest angstiest unbalanced story ever. Once again, your lovely twining stories, the clarity and lyrical nature of your writing, and the total lack of gratuitous suicide attempts and homemade porn films run amuck have saved me from an evening of wibbling into a pillow. I need to put your site on my toolbar... or stop reading other authors. *grins*
