Dear Livejournal,

You're really starting to suck

Seriously displeased & disappointed customer,

This is why I'm glad I didn't renew my paid account. I can always install free blogging software on my website. I was just lazy before. Rats, guess I better get to it now.

Oh well, BRAND NEW DAY! I've heard rumors of everything from mass exodus to GreatestJournal to go go gadget Blogspot!

As the drama continues to unfold, I am going to make cookies and then finish reading an amazing book that you should read too: City of Bones by Cassandra Clare. It is actually good, despite the crazy plagiarism cloud that surrounded her fanfic!

It's pissing me off too. I'd hate to leave, since all my communties and Internet friends are here, but I swear, it's getting to that point. Actually, I'm gonna go turn my account basic. *Will miss her icons liek woah.....*

You wouldn't happen to know what He said exactly, would you? Just out of curiosity...

Can I say that I missed you~? Band Camp made me deadzors; I could have used some slashy goodness.....

They are definitely needing some better PR advice. As well as how to deal with the legal crap advice. Seems all too headless-chicken-y.

Leva had some good advice; they should hire her. If she'd even take the job.

I'm all curious what he said, now, too. I hope the pulling it down was an acknowledgment of the inappropriateness, not a cover-up. To err is human, yeah, but then we have to own it.

I got the link from this post:

and I thinks he links to what was actually said, or a copy of it anyway, since the original post was deleted I believe

Miss you too <3 Gods, my brother did band camp. I think in the summer it almost killed him. He would damn near pass out in the heat, some days.

Taking that and reposting. Thanks for letting me know about it.

Y'know, blogs are amazing communication tools when left in the right hands.

I've read thru the info & maybe I'm missing something, but I don't see what the problem is. An employee of LJ posted in a thread in a community that is set-up to mock anyone & everyone & somehow he is in trouble for doing the same thing lots of other people are doing? Especially when most of the comments seem to be people saying things for fun & trying to one-up the other thread poster & don't have anything to do with the original post.

Also, the posts were deleted by the community maintainer, not by LJ or the employee.

I feel it was inappropriate because he did it in a journal he uses to give official lj statements. If he did it in a private journal, I have no issues, but he made these comments in (what could be perceived) as his role as an lj spokesperson not an lj employee. There is a slight, but important difference.

If you'd actually look at his LJ (http://burr86.livejournal.com/ the account that he's posting all this in) you'll find it's NOT a work account, it's his personal LJ account. He's got work related stuff in there (which isn't odd for a LJ, just look at maderr or starparty), but he also has just random crap in there. He wasn't posting using any "spokesperson" account, he was using HIS account.

Also the guy apparently is one of the engineers, which probably makes him more qualified to say how things are doing server/code wise (which he does in a few offical lj communities) & he's probably doing that because the acutal "spokesperson" doesn't have a clue about those things. I've had to talk to customers on things before at my job, but that doesn't make me any "spokesperson" for my employer.

Ahhh kay - well then its not so bad - all I'd heard was that he was posting in an account used as a lj spokesperson account. He has the right to post whatever he wants in a personal journal, whereever he wants. However I pesonally don't think it was in the best of taste and good sense, but there should not be want flying that is.

I have to comment with a laugh here -- I don't think I'd touch that job for a million dollar salary. It's a heck of a lot easier to point my finger and say, "This is what you should do!" than it would be to actually implement it.

Also, the customers I deal with in my day job currently are bad enough. I do not think I'd want to be on the other side of the desk with fandom as my customer base. Just saying. :-)

(BTW, Maderr, your journal sent more viewers to my site than anyone else's. I've been following up on top referrers to the site to see what people are talking about and you're the very first on the list.)

Heh. This is true. I think if anyone was dumb enough to give me a PR job, I would manage to sink the company in a day >_>;;;;

I'm not sure anyone really wants fandom as a customer base. Obviously we're an ill-behaved lot.

^^;; Who knew?
