Settings:

*desert, arabic type
*asian style settings, esp. the formality thereof
*feudal socities, medieval type worlds
*victorian/regency type settings, foggy streets and men in cravats sort of stuff
*oceans/ships

Character stuffs:

*geeks will always be FTW
*bastards, assholes, men who are ostensibly massive jerks but not without reason
*solitary and suffering quietly. the kind you want to clobber and cuddle at the same time. bonus if they are burdened by duty or honor.
*bold as brass. chars who do whatever, whenever, and no one knows how the hell to make them behave. pushy and 'you will be mine' types fall under this
*seeming villians. closely related to bastards. cruel to be kind type. so pretty.

Relationships:

*enemies to lovers will always be my supreme favorite
*seperated by class or some such. I love it love it, no matter how cliche
*mutually dense. again, cliche, but it's so bloody amusing and frustrating, I can't resist
*sekkret identity type stuff, where A is seduced by B but doesn't know who B is until the end.
*A resists and resists and resists and finally caves to B.
*twins, incest, I can't help it, guilty guilty pleasure
*polyamory

Other/Random:

*magic, esp when it's explained how/why it works.
*anthros, esp. when the human resemblence is minimal

*alcohol (used correctly x.x some people have no clue)

In other news, my roommate recently plopped down behind me on the couch (I'm sitting sideways on it) and rested against my back. After a moment she informed me I was 'shit-cockingly' comfortable. She meant shockingly. One day she will learn not to speak before she is wholly awake ^_~

I mean as in knowing what sort of effect alcohol would have. I cannot tell you the number of times I've read stories where X has eight glasses of whiskey and then cheerfully wanders off to have mad sex. Drink eight glasses of whiskey and see how well you do anything. And wine, beer, and hard liquor are not the same thing by a long shot. Each one is a different kind of drunk, and varies widely from person to person. Not to mention what is available to which classes, stuff like that. Maybe most people don't notice, but it totally throws you out of a story when you do know that drinking X would totally not have that effect.
