Apr. 19th, 2008 11:40 amMwahahaha. Yesterday was killer. I finally got a new ID, then I harassed Sarah at her office, and we went to Dewey's for lunch. Then I went to see Forbidden Kingdom *.* Man, I so loved that movie. It was fun and exciting and Jackie Chan is <3 I love love Jet Li, but I think I would flirt with him at the party and then go home with Jackie. Hee hee. The movie was awesome. I so totally would go see it again in the theater.
Also saw a new speed racer trailer. Man I so can't wait for that movie to come out \o/
Then I went with friends to Hofbrauhaus, and eventually we wound up at the house of more friends watching ridiculous Japanese game shows. There was much, much funness. We stood up on our chairs and did the chicken dance, and we saw two pretty boys give another frat boy a rose (no joke, it was his birthday, they were harassing him, but they also looked very cute and suggestive slinging arms around each other and presenting roses. I'm just saying. Also, they were facing away from me. Nice view for the chicken dance).
Now I am slacking off. Found a book yesterday, The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss. So far I really like it. Got an angsty tone to it, I get the feeling it probably won't end well, but I like the voice. Switches from third (when it starts) to first (when Kote begins to tell his tale). The general idea is one common to fantasy, but oddly enough not one I, at least, have seen flogged to death and beyond. Reality vs. Legend, like, since Kote is actually a legendary figure and shortly into the book begins to tell what really happened. I adore stuff like that, even if like in this case I think it will break my heart. Ah, well. The blurb:
MY NAME IS KVOTHE
I have stolen princesses back from sleeping barrow kings. I burned down the town of Trebon. I have spent the night with Felurian and left with both my sanity and my life. I was expelled from the University at a younger age that mot people are allowed in. I tread paths by moonlight that others fear to speak of during the day. I have talked to Gods, loved women, and written songs that make the minstrels weep.
You may have heard of me.
I will have to stop reading shortly, and get some work done, but I really really like it so far - not least of all because it's not really slow to start. I did not once feel like 'if I just make it to page x or so, it'll pick up.'

Date: 2008-04-19 04:50 pm (UTC)Dude, you're like the second person who has informed me you would rape an actor. There's a girl at work who swears if she ever met Johnny Depp, she would rape him.

Date: 2008-04-19 05:01 pm (UTC)Heh. The dude recording the Kvothe's story is called the Chronicler. Kvothe is teaching/friends with a demon (demons being zomg bad! liek woah) and Chronicler freaks out and then Bast (the demon) gets all pissed and Kvothe said 'you bitches make nice and be friends or else' and my slash mind is totally running with that - lonely scribe and pretty demon ftw.

You may have heard of me.
But angst breaks my heart, which is fragile enough already, held together with paper clips and sticky tape.
