Sep. 24th, 2008 07:02 pm- Per my boss, apparently childless people are selfish and self absorbed. I would take offense to this, and rant at length, but it's such a gross generalization that was obviously ill thought out, that it does not seem worth the effort.
- Am working on new story, though it's not one I'll be posting. Got nine pages written in my notebook this morning...then left it at work -__- Argh!
- I hate the business world. Hate it. I hate the red tape, the two face nature of it, the backstabbing, the gossip...and that I have to work closely with the guy who like two years ago said to me in my bosses house that he'd always wanted to sleep with me. I want to punch him in the fucking face.
- People call me cold-hearted, and I guess I can be. I know I rant, and whine, and am generally given to histrionics -- but I do something about it. I always try to do something, even if it takes me a few days. I expect no pity or sympathy. I rant because ranting gets shit out of my system so I can think clearly again. I have nothing but contempt for people who whine and whine and whine, then reject every solution offered, and sit around waiting for someone else to fix their problems. If that makes me cold hearted, so be it.
- Returning to afore mentioned notebook -- I left the house early today to go to McD's for breakfast, and wrote for like an hour while sitting there (and I may do it again tomorrow, and I know it's a waste of money, but it's so nice to go out and enjoy my coffee and write somewhere other than at my desk, you know). This group of old men were sitting nearby, and every now and then one would turn and look at me. Finally one of them went "Hey, Miss. Are you writing a book?" I told him yes, and he was delighted. "I knew it. I told them that's what you were doing!" It made me giggle. ^__^
- I'm sure everyone is sick of my work rambles, but it's amusing to me that the past two days I've had to work straight through my lunch. This never happens - my company is nazi about lunch breaks and shit. So, it just goes to show how important all this is (and how they had better hurry the fuck up and get the job opening posted for the position I'm covering)
- I think that's it

Date: 2008-09-24 11:35 pm (UTC)I can sort of understand your boss’s POV, if only because my parents are more obsessed with my siblings and I than … um, anything in existence? But I wouldn’t have taken that generalization with as much grace as you had. If anything, I would’ve sicced my nephews on anyone who’d actually said something like that and let them indoctrinate their target in the ways of the Selfish. -_-;;
Your patience is being coveted in this corner of the world.
Also, hi, I’m going to be stalking your journal from now on. ^-^

Date: 2008-09-24 11:50 pm (UTC)I get where she's coming from, and what she means, but it's seriously inaccurate. Selfish is selfish, and becoming a parent will not change that. I can't count the number of examples against her statement I see every day.
It's funny, I don't really have patience. I just have a temper, and know better than to let it out in a professional environment.

Date: 2008-09-24 11:51 pm (UTC)Yeah, your boss's comment is so not worth the effort.
I have the insane impulse to respond to your cold-hearted bullet with 'Git-r-done!' I'm fairly certain it is in agreement with your statement, but not something I generally say. *laughs at self*
Sorry to hear about the uncomfortable aspects of your working world. *snugs*
Hope your evening is lovely. <3

Yes. Dork. Very much so.I’m more of the opinion that it depends on the individual who’s becoming a parent and what about parenthood and children and popular culture had been socialized into the individual before parenthood, but I’ve known people who have stubbornly remained as exceptions. >_> Then again, as a childless and somewhat self-centered person who isn’t about to test it either way, I might just leave it up to anyone who’s willing to try and be done with it. u.u
Quick question: do you ever give any of your published books away for free?

Date: 2008-09-25 12:17 am (UTC)Heh. I'm usually terrible at replying, so always feel free to say HEY BITCH, REPLY WOULD BE NICE.
Umm...I have before, yeah. I tend to accumlate extraneous proofs, and have given those away. The ebooks too, I'm pretty easy with, especially since I know some people just can't and never will be able to pay.
