Part of the reason I avoid doing a lot of shit is that I am easily obsessed.
Diana Gaboldon's Lord John books are one example of where I should have left well enough alone. I seriously love Lord John to death. I have listened to the audio books more than I am willing to admit, and I don't carry the hardbacks I own around only because I left them in NC. I love his char, I love the language, the stories, whatever. Seriously, I was so enamored after reading Private Matter I immediately ventured out and dropped the last of my paycheck to buy the other two in hardback, cause that's all that was available at the time.
It is really bloody sad that if I were able to justify it, I would totally buy the British editions of those books, just because I think they're prettier than my versions -__-
And if she doesn't publish another one soon, I'm going to go nuts.
This is why I always try to stay well away from stuff, and take a step back when I feel the obession encroaching.
I am totally going to wind up listening to them all over again starting tomorrow. It's sick and sad, I'm sure, but I just don't care.
I am, as ever, my own greatest source of amusement.
