I am always amused when readers tell me what to do. I know they don't mean any harm, which is why I am amused rather than pissed. Still, I wonder--when I am told you should do this or I think you need to do that, what is the thought process? That I will fall all over myself to obey? I do what the story tells me, or what my betas make me do. That's it.

In related news, I am never going to put the DwtD stories in 'the right order'. So far as I'm concerned, they're in the proper order. Growing up, I always read mysteries out of order. They went back and forth in time with impunity. It's more fun that way. I am sorry to those who find it confusing, but them's the breaks.

They're out of order...? o.O I didn't know they went in order?

They're not chronological. They skip around a bit, at first, b/t present day and past when C & S met. I get a lot of bitching about it.

Really? It never occurred to me to try to read them chronologically..

Then either I am sane for doing it, after all, or you are as mad a hatter as I.

I just thought the randomness suited the universe the stories were written in.

When I tell you to do something, it's in the vain hope that your plot bunnies will run away with it and make you write it. And I know for a fact that it HAS worked. I gave my opinion for a Gryphon in your Quest story and BAM! Instant Gryphon. <3

Also, I love to rant about how stupid your characters can be and how they need their heads slapped. *COUGH Pyotr and Jade COUGH*

*laugh* Friends are the best inspiration.

You should see the way I yell at them. It hurts to have to write their massive stupidity, let me tell you.

I enjoyed them in the order that you wrote them. I WANT THEM. So any order you put them is acceptable. *smile*

I have to say, I love reading them as they are, meeting characters and then learning the story later, getting details after the fact, I find it really interesting to read. So phooey on whoever's trying to correct the author of fantastic stories, I know I'm always thrilled to get whatever I get. It quite often makes my day.

Well, if they want them in order so badly why don't they make a list and *gasp* put them in order themselves? Shocking concept, I know.

Oh my god you almost gave me a heart attack because I thought you said you WERE going to put them in 'the right order'. Then I read it again. Phew. I love reading books out of order, and I love how you did DwtD. So much cooler...*purrs*

People tell you what to do? Besides the usual, joking, plot-bunny type of command that's not supposed to be taken seriously? ~shock~ I didn't think anyone had the guts to, for fear of their head being bit off. I'm pretty sure you've said in the past you hate that, too.

*amused too*

I mostly get it at fp.com, which is really all that needs to be said. Like I said, on the whole it doesn't bother me, and I even worry this post seems snotty or something. it just leaves me confounded, more than anything. I never got why readers start to think that writers are to be bossed around.

I couldn't understand why people were trying to get you to put DWTD in order. Then you mentioned fiction press and it all made sense. I think we tend to beg more than anything here.

DwtD never bothered me because the case files are numbered in order, even if they aren't placed in order. Thus, if you want to read them in order it doesn't really take much thought to just do that ._o

Each story is pretty stand-alone enough to read out of sequence, I think. Though I confess I did read them in order because I'm nearly OCD with doing things in order.

You clearly don't need this comment but I figured another perspective on the order you put DwtD would be helpful. I actually like the way it's not in an any time order the fact that each chapter is a diff point in time is fun, creative and makes reading it on the whole like a bit of a Sherlock Homes based novel. I don't and haven't ever found it confusing. I love it and am very glad you don't plan on changing that.

Well, considering the inundation of so-called "writers" who are like, "Omg, vote on the ending because I don't know how it ends!"... Stupidity abounds everywhere.

Okay, those who say DwtD is "out of order" are the same people who caused the reprint of Narnia to become chronological. *shakes head* Some people can only think linearly, I suppose.

I just watched a movie in my Korean class which was told backwards, starting in 1999 and ending in 1979. The right order is the order in which the author wants to tell it. DWTD is perfect in the order you have it. Anyone who doesn't like it is feel to A) read it in whatever order they like, or B) read something else.

Oh boy, I hope I didn't start this... I'm sorry. I didn't mean to make it into a demand. (I was actually begging, but we'll ignore that for now.) I totally didn't mean to make it sound like I was forcing you into anything. I just wanted to throw the Bey, Aki and Witcher thingy out there just so it was out there. Yeah. I'll not make any more requests.

I think they are hoping you'll like their idea and write it. They liked their idea and have hopes that you will as well. Or, at least something like that.

hell, i'm just happy they're out there to be read. it's kinda hard to survive without a shot of DwtD at 4 o'clock in the morning.
well, i hope this was the only negative side of your day and i do hope the rest of you week fares well.

I THINK ALL YOUR STORIES SHOULD HAVE DANCING PENGUINS IN THEM.

Sometimes I read DwtD in the right order because I am a little OCD. D:

well! when I read the DwtD I loved the order, and I'm with you in the order thing, I don't know if it's because I read sherlock in that way, but is kind of like a detective stuff isn'tt it?

Heh, sorry -- I am pretty much one of the readers that asks for things all the time. Sometimes I'll say things like "NOOOO! It can't end like this! Character A has to confess his secret burning love for Character B before the marriage or it will be too late!" (I mean, obviously not that exact situation, but you know what I mean.) I don't actually expect things to be influenced -- it's more like how I scream at people in movies (yeah, don't ever watch a movie with me. I'm awful) -- things like "NO DON'T OPEN THE DOOR YOU IDIOT, THERE'S THE MONSTER BEHIND THERE". I mean, I know that the movie is made, but I'm saying it anyway.

Er. I am only sort of sure that this post is coherent. But what I'm trying to say is that, in my case, requests/demands/begging is my weird way of interacting with the storyline -- not that I expect the storyline to change to my will, but just that I want to effusively express my opinion.

As for the 'in-order' thing -- it is sometimes fun to read things out of order, and when I'm feeling the need to read them chronologically, I just go through and read them that way. I mean, they're nicely labeled -- I can read them in or out of order. 0_o (it's like the series the Melancholy of Suzumeia(sp?) Haruhi -- it was released out of order, but people sometimes watch it chronologically anyway. In the end, you are getting the same complete picture.)

So. Uhm. Happy times.

(Also, I love that series. I have always had a weakness for demons and mages and supernatural type things -- but more than that, it is a very fun series. Thank you for sharing your writing with the world <3 because it is MADE OF WIN.)

Oh my gosh, I'm going to sleep now before i get any less coherent. X3
