Hmmm

Was supposed to go out tonight. Didn't feel like it. My ability to act social has been maxed for the month. I want to live in a dark hole until I go home. Gods, I can't wait to go home.

Lately have been lucky enough to do mindless stuff at work, which means I can put my mind to other things. Possibly a couple of regency storie, one of which I might post for Christmas if A) I can finish it (hahaha) and 3) Sammikins lets me. But, the first one is a big big if. Beast writes slowly. Also want to toy with a sex mage type idea. Like, a mage who does spells and talismans that pertain to such things -- cures certain diseases, charms in lieu of certain pills, that kind of thing. I'm certain it must be a thriving industry, but I wonder if perhaps such a mage might be sneered at or looked down upon by his fellow mages - especially if say he started as a whore himself, or something. Hmmm. Also still nibbling at forced marriage ideas, but that's nigh on impossible to do well or believably. What else? Ah, I randomly thought of a way to make (ironically enough) Unbreakable a doable story, instead of the unfinished piece of crap it is currently. There was something else, what was it...

Eh, don't recall at present.

Now, I am going to make coffee, lace it liberally with booze, and either write or read. Sadly, I think I am out of ebooks, b/c I read them too fast.

Bah, I do not believe you couldn't do a credible and quite believeable forced marriage. They happened all the time in Medieval and Regency Europe between members of the noble class. Marriage wasn't about love, it was a business proposition to increase land, wealth, and prestige. I can definitely see you creating a story with a pair forced into marriage for one (or all) of those reasons.

Um... What's "Midnight"? It sounds familiar, but I say that about a lot of things. (Again, sorry for the anonymity. Ehehehe... ^^; I'll get an LJ once I have a decent story ready. Or maybe until I have enough for some teaser...)

I totally get you with the not being social thing. I'm supposed to be going out and doing things all weekend, and my sister is all: Hey I'm hanging out with a bunch of friends tonight you should come. And my reaction was >_< give up my quiet time before a busy weekend? No way.

Looking forward to Unbreakable and Midnight. The sex mage idea sounds interesting, and I agree he'd probably be looked down on. Arranged marriage can be interesting, but it sounds like you'd find it hard to write in a way you'd be happy with.

Whew I was nervous when I saw the phrase sex mage, until I red your definition of it. Momentary flashback to one of those really awful "We need magical power to defeat the big bad guy and I'm a sex mage so therefore we need to have lots of sex to generate lots of magical power!" stories. Your definition would be cool though. An ex-whore, hmm, maybe a widower, old enough to act as a father-figure to troubled teens? Or someone who failed out of medical-mage-university due to sabotage so he couldn't be a 'real' healer? Just tossing out some ideas. :)

I'll be very interested to see what the plot turns out to be, because I have two erotic mage story ideas myself, but with a different focus: one where the mage primarily does bodily modification as a whore or dom-for-hire, and one where he primarily does breeding (of slaves and furries).

if you are out of ebooks - uh, do you want to read a novel-length slash fairytale by somebody else?

It's a retelling of beauty and the beast, and it's slash, and it doesn't resemble yours so you shouldn't have to worry about it tangling up your muses and confusing them or anything.

it's located here:

you have to get friended to read the whole thing, but if you ask you pretty much get friended (it just got flocked out of caution) -- and I recommend not settling down to read it unless you have several spare hours, because it is hard to stop in the middle to go do something else.

Please give it a try!
