Dance with the Devil and Midnight
Jan. 18th, 2009 02:40 pmBoth are now up as ebooks, here and here.
They'll be available as paperbacks in a week or so, once I get the proofs from createspace. Here's too hoping I didn't fuck anything up, 'cause I'm so f'ing done. This is the only reason I don't publish stuff more often--I hate the fsking formatting and crap. But, I'm getting smarter and faster as I go, so we'll see.
Now, back to Bound ^__^ I want to get at least ch. 4 done today, if not 4 & 5. My goal is to be done with Part 1 by the end of this coming week, and done with Part 2 by the end of the month.

Date: 2009-01-18 07:55 pm (UTC)Question. Does the Fairytale compilation contain only the stories you'd previously published as two volumes, or more than that? Because I have the two separate volumes, but if there are more I'll get the compilation too.
Good luck with Bound!

Date: 2009-01-18 07:58 pm (UTC)No, the compilation is just the other two combined.

Date: 2009-01-18 08:23 pm (UTC)I think I'll wait for the paperbacks. One of my few indulgences these days.
And I can barely wait until Bound is done.

Date: 2009-01-18 10:01 pm (UTC)I don't know if I asked this before, though I might have, but do you have any plans on making Lost Gods into paperback books? Because that would be really awesome if you did. :) Reading it online is awesome, reading it for free is even more awesome, but reading an awesome story that I love actually in print as I lay relaxing in a chair or my bed, now that is priceless. :)

Date: 2009-01-18 10:20 pm (UTC)DwtD vol. 1 is only the first ten stories, cause that's how i always intended it to be. The rest of the stories, when I get enough of them, will go in volume two. But hte first ten are a set, and I didn't want other stuff with them.

Date: 2009-01-18 10:21 pm (UTC)Trilogy of knights is too old for me to be happy with the publish. I like the Always There set much better, so far as knights go. As to short stories, which ones? Cause a good number of them are published, and I don't think I have enough of the rest for a second book, yet.

Date: 2009-01-18 10:51 pm (UTC)Its cool that they are published, but published in paperback, cause that is what I buy, even though its more money. I am really talking about the more modern of the short stories, they are romantic and as they are set in the modern day, they can provide a sort of touching my life. Which one occassionally needs. :)
no subject
Date: 2009-01-18 10:59 pm (UTC)*laugh* Probably is, because I'm mostly talking skill-wise, Always outdoes Trilogy. I would have to rewrite Trilogy before I published it, and I just don't have time right now, though I am fond of that set.
More modern, more modern. I don't have many of those, but if I ever acquire enough to make a paperback worthwhile, I shall see it done ^__^

Date: 2009-01-18 11:07 pm (UTC)Honestly, I like your modern short stories. They are short, sweet and too the point. I don't know if I would want to read (not do to ability but just entertainment in general) a long epic story set in the modern day without magic or anything like that. It would be cool, but it wouldn't be escapist as much. But things like Sherlock, a Dozen Roses, Handcuffs are sweet and awesome because they are direct and stuff. I like that. hehe
But, honestly, your standard fantasy, and modern fantasy and things like Regency or Sandstorm are awesome because they describe a different time and place, even though they do not have magic (though a Sandstorm with magic would be yummy indeed. hehe)

Date: 2009-01-18 10:20 pm (UTC)^__^ Thanks.
Aha, it will be eventually. I still need to finish rewriting Treasure. Trust me, I want those in paperback just so I have hard evidence that yes, I wrote a five book series (even if they are only novellas, not sprawling five million page epics, hehe).

Date: 2009-01-18 10:53 pm (UTC)And yes, you do deserve to be able to be like "I wrote a freaken epic, see, here it is" *waves book in front of peoples noise* "What do you think of me now." hehe :) They are a great series, and in fact, the fire one was the actual story that got me first enthralled into your writings.

Date: 2009-01-18 11:00 pm (UTC)Aww, yay ^___^ Burning Bright did it; that makes me happy, I was always really really pleased with that one. It and Chaos are my sekkret favorites, for all that Treasure is dear to me for being the first.
no subject
Date: 2009-01-18 11:11 pm (UTC)Anyway, that is probably why it is so A FIRST for me. After finishing Bright and reading that yummy yummy short story about the first time Dym and Raz met, I was gone. Just totally gone with the cuteness of it. hehe Treasure, though, that also touched me on its awesomeness and how everything went along and all fate played such a bitch at first and then made everything okay in the end.
What really is awesome to me, from the fact that I love settings, is that the universe of those books are so REAL and complete. I can understand how things work and why the gods did what they gods did. Plus, I like the fact that they are all (or almost entirely all) male, it provides for lots of god-sex, which is awesome. hehe

Date: 2009-01-19 03:20 am (UTC)It occured to me when I suddenly ran out of red paragraphs that you hadn't, but the rest of them shouldn't be that bad, and your hands are full, and b/t us it would have taken a couple three more months so I just went ahead and did what I could and put the thing up. But, thank you for what you did do ^__^ Man, I really had some prize ones there.

Date: 2009-01-19 06:37 am (UTC)What ebooks are ones that you never released for free reading? Like, which of them do we have to buy if we want to complete our AmaSour personal library of win?
I so far know of Matchmaker (which you only posted the first part of here, right?) and also Midnight. I'm sure there are others, but again with the brain on cold medicine. I'm sorry to ask such a stupid question.
Thanks for making such awesome stories. I am going to try to get a better paying job so that I can read more of them <3 in the meantime, I want to know what I am saving up for! (This way at least I have a ballpark figure to shoot for.)
Uh, yeah. I hope this is readable and not only to me, or people also on lots of benedril and robatussin and advil and such. ohhh brains >_

Date: 2009-01-20 11:12 pm (UTC)Some stuff I make pay only. More and more often in the near future, it probably will all be pay only. But there is plenty of stuff that will be free, cause I don't like to take away all the freebies, and anything that is up now will stay up free.

Date: 2009-01-21 05:40 am (UTC)Well... this is kind of more long I expected it to be...
Date: 2009-01-21 08:29 pm (UTC)I thought I would be lurking forever... guess I was wrong ^^;
I'm a big fan of yours - you're one of the few I still read on Internet, and if I don't buy paper copy of your stories, I buy most of the pdf versions.
I don't like every stories you wrote (don't like at all the Dragon pitt series for example) but I'm an unconditional of the Regency series. I also like veeeery much the Fairy tales series ; The ogre of the black mountain has to be the cutest story EVER! I can't get tired of it. The Matchmaker comes second I think, Main gauche is pretty high on the list too...
That said, I read Midnight (which I liked too. Which is a little disturbing 'cause, you know, zombie and all... ^^; ) and I'm surprised to see no one seem to ask you about a few things...
But first, I'm sorry I didn't thought of taking track of the misspelled words I found :( There's 2 or 3 Barr instead of Barra. At a moment (part 2, I'm almost sure, but can't remember when exactly v_v) there was a Neirin instead of a Troyes (the character gives explanations and the way he talks, couldn't be someone else than Troyes...)
So! My questions: (please bear in mind I didn't read Dance with the devil, just in case we learn more about your vision of vampires in it... Do we learn more about Seth and Ceadda's relationship in it? 'Cause I haven't really like what I began to read on DwtD on your site so I wasn't planning on buying it... hum...)
1) when they oh so carefully cover Midnight in his tree so he can sleep without being harmed by the sunlight, I was all: what about Ceadda?? He's a vampire! If one should take cover, he should be the one! Not in your world?
Does he sparkle too? Sorry, that was meanHave I miss an explanation somewhere about vampires' powers and weaknesses?2) Ginny and her mother are supposed to sleep till Ceadda wakes them up. Then, he took off without doing so at the end. Well... do we have two sleeping beauties? (or does the distance alternate the power of the spell? Not very practical if one have to be where one's spell are all the time...)
3) Midnight doesn't feel Devlin, he fears that's because he's too far away. Well, that's not the case since Devlin is indeed sleeping under their feet. So why doesn't Misnight feel him? I thought Silas' spells prevent him to but... would it affect Barra's nose too? (And Ceadda's nose too, lol) And Troyes special abilities? When the spells are removed (just long enough for Midnight to play solo), shouldn't he be hit by the "I can feel him again" feeling? I think that would be something he notices, since it's about Devlin and he's very very focused on him. I think it shouldn't be something he doesn't notice because he has more important thing in his head, you see what I mean?
I still liked the story, ok? I think what I liked the most is the runes magic, the way they're used, the way they kind of have a "mind" on their own, the way Devlin always leaves one out to kiss it before storing it with the others - and the way you tell that every time without being repetitive about it!! That, and the fact that Midnight calls Devlin "heartbeat". So cute and sweet and original - and so obvious in this universe ^_^
There're just some things that confused me, made me wonder if you left some plot holes or what...
Well... Bound seems to be very interesting. I'm not that enthusiasm about the Beats thing. I'd like to have more Regency stories!! :p And Black magic chapters... Please keep writing (and posting teasers ;p)

Date: 2009-01-21 11:49 pm (UTC)No, there's nothing new in it. I always wanted the first ten stories as their own set, since that's how I wrote them. I know it's been peeving people off, but that's how I always saw and wanted them to be. The second volume will have some new stuff. I'm sorry.
