Season three was...X_x It was during the middle of the writer's strike and large parts of the over arching plot for the entire season was lost to everyone (I think the season ended up being like 5 or 6 eps short of a season too, because when I bought the box set, the last disk was the first four eps of season four. In fact, season 2 had 21 eps, and season three only had 15) , but yeah, I have no fucking clue why they did that. And since you probably won't make it to season two, I can say that I freaking hate the way that they broke up Angela and Hodgins in what I've seen so far of season four. -_-
The Fox network as a real knack at bringing out shows that I love for the first season or two and then doing something to them that just kills them dead in the seasons afterwards. >_>
*shrugs* With certain shows, I just pretend that there are no seasons after my fav seasons. Like, Gilmore Girls. As far as I'm concerned, that show ended at season five. I have season six, but I watched it once and that was it. Prison Break? Totally only had one season. ^_^;;
Dude, the way Hodgins and Angela fell through was so much BS. That was when I officially stopped caring about the show. I mean, I love Sweets, but it's just not enough to get past the rest of the bull shit.
24 is the only show I sit down and watch on TV anymore. The rest, I'll find at hulu.com, if I'm that desperate. /shrug

I don't buy the 'he was moving on' argument, either. I saw him in an interview, and he was not saying anything against the show, but he said that he would really have liked to stay on the show. Oh, and to not turn out to be really crazy in an awful way, also.
I do love the way the other characters still love Zach, though. They don't tolerate anyone saying anything against him. Also, he has been in several episodes, and there was some hope given of perhaps some charges being dropped at some point...
Zack's going to be back. Sweets is assigned to work with him and he found out didn't kill anyone...after he helped to solve a case. They still refer back to him in the show. Bones is a good show, if (all of) you are going to call it quits after a few, admittedly cliche, twists happen in a TV show why bother following to begin with?
I kind of heard rumours at some point, and stopped watching a few episodes into S2 (and I don't regret it: what's-her-name the new woman is annoying.) Also, I <3 Zack and his dorkiness and wanted to keep him intact, in my mind.

I was convinced for five or six episodes in that they were going to bring him back (that and I liked laughing at them trying to find a replacement, interspersed with cries of "SEE? YOU NEVER HAD IT SO GOOD!" followed by some more laughter; on a related note, I am only allowed to watch Bones when I am the only one in the house now) but after the false alarm I pretty much just grin and bear it, and only watch the ones that are as decent as they can be after Zack and the Angela/Hodgins debacle.
This week's episode was decent, though. It let the cast be geekier than usual, and it had LARPing, which I will never not find hilarious (says she who writes porn about children's book characters). And a con.
