I wonder if it would be possible to do a slashy variation on 1001 nights. But, if I did it, I think it would be more fun if other writers to contribute the substories, and one to write the main story (and while my knee jerk would be to write the main story myself, if someone better presented, I would gladly just write a substory)

But, it always seems like it would just come out hokey.

Also, Jasmine in the red outfit is amazingly racey for Disney - not to mention Jafar's lewd comments and insinuations. I think if they were to do it today, they would not have the balls for even that much. Especially the "Now, pussycat..." That would so never fly these days, and isn't that sad?

Hmmm.

I don't know, no one caught the giant goat penis on a plaque in line for the Matterhorn at Disneyland...

There a manwha of 1001 nights on [livejournal.com profile] free_manga - its interesting but I find the stories being told tendd to get in the way of the main storyline.

My fave version so far has been the Arabian Nights miniseries, since it had a pretty good balance. If you haven't tried it, its here on [livejournal.com profile] gossbox.

Still need to try The Orphan Tales though ^^

You know, I could see that as a really fun project for... our thing. It would certainly provide a lot of content. ^_^

Yes, you certainly could. Provided it starts after July 10th, I could probably, um... you know, do the writer thing again. XD

One Thousand and One Nights is such a good book. It was surprisingly funny. That's what I remember when I read it. Especially the one with the King's jester - that killed me. Ugh, but there was this one with the guy who kept talking and talking... His parts were boring, but the stories he told were good... (Confusing the story-line)

Actually, I thought the King's story was a little sad. I mean, his wife was ho and so I can kind of see why he went all, "I hate women so I'll kill my wives!"

Blah, rambling. Hope you feel better and very soon.

logistics...

Could be a very cool project but you'd have to set some guidelines to do it right. After all, ever X number of words, there has to be a cliff hanger to allow Scheherazade to survive the night, and as I recall the stories could become embedded up to five or six layers deep with characters telling stories about characters telling stories. Maybe a round-robin type deal?

On the other hand, while I love all of your writing and I can't imagine that this would be exception, I'm still hoping for "Black Magic" and "Bound" and "Unbreakable".

Now I want to watch the Disney movies all over again. *pout*

I think One Thousand and One Nights would be an interesting project. You could always set it up like a challenge: 'sign up here for particular themes' or something. To coordinate that many stories, it might be better to have a masterlist of prompts or themes so that there won't be overlaps.

*huuuuuuuuuugs* I hope you feel better soon sweetie. I'm miserable with cramps at home myself. :(

Just finished reading Regency. Have I said lately that I love you a whole lot? Oh Bart. And Perry's defense of him at the end is so damn sweet.

AND! I just read Seconds, and I was wondering if we'd ever seen Maitland before. I'm trying to figure out if I'm misremembering (his name seems familiar) or if it's just a common name.

If anyone could pull an anthology like that off it would be you and your writer cronies!

unfortunately, I watched a documentary a couple of years ago about portrayal of Arab peoples in film and television and their dissection of all the racist and xenophobic references in Aladin pretty much ruined it for me for good. I do agree that Jasmine's outfit was pretty racey but I think the crazy one for me was the come and get it look Nala gives Simba in the Lion King! I was completely wtf about that one, lol!

Ah! That would be fun! *bounces* XD My mom was telling me about some series of romance books she was reading where all the novels were set in the same town, but each book was written by a different author with a different couple.

If you set up the rules of the world, and then maybe created three or four major events that any one author could choose to include in their storyline...

Or, you know, however it was done, it sounds like it would be fun to both read and participate in. :D <33

Pretty Please ;)
I don't write but that sounds like a fantastic idea.

On a side note I just re-watched 'Never Ending Stories' at a local pub/theatre, that movie has a lot of suggestive dialog and imagery. There were times you couldn't hear the movie because everyone was laughing at something someone had yelled out.
