I've been feeling rather lazy since I got back from St. Louis...damn was that a long day...

Day started roughly at three, when I left my house to drive to the airport which is about two hours away, give or take depending on traffic. Once there, I still had plenty of time to kill, so I sat by the gate and read Love Mode - I think some poor fool looked over my shoulder and saw two men doing things togethere that he didn't know they could do.

The trip there was a hell of a lot of fun - I wound up sitting between these two guys that were always bantering back and forth, telling funny stories and all. The best part was when the younger guy whipped some little bottles of vodka to add to their orange juice. They wouldn't let me have any because I had to work.

Touched down, grabbed a cab, got to the interview I guess on time - no one ever said when I should be there, really. Anyway, the chick that interviewed me looked like she'd been wearing the same outfit for at least three days, and her hair wasn't much better. Now, maybe it's just me but isn't the company supposed to be impressing me at the same time they're intimidating me?

Anyway, we talked...talked...talked...talked...then we went to lunch, after that I got to pee in a cup and then have this Indian guy give me a physical. It was kinda funny, because he was trying to be a good doctor but at the same time was kinda nervous about touching a woman I think. I dunno, maybe I'm just scary.

After that, I was done. But that meant I had roughly five hours to kill before my flight home (I'd tried to get an earlier one, but I'd just missed it by half an hour). Anyway, I decided to take th metrolink into the city, stopped off at this massive shopping center. It was really pretty, called Union Station or something - and can I say that I've never seen a city so profusely selling alcohol as this place? If I hadn't thought drinking would spur me into la la land, I'dve indulged.

Anyway, after that I went to see the Arch. That was pretty cool, a big hunk of well shaped metal surrounded by screaming kids and adults who seem to get off on caressing the arch (and yes, some of them were caressing it.

By this point my feet are killing me, so I opt to head back to the airport. Flight leaves in about an hour, so that give me time to grab a snack, get through security, etc. Oh, I got to be the random "really thorough search," and they did everything but strip me.

My flight home was supposed to leave at 7:56, but due to the fact that one of the flight attendants was unaware she was supposed to be working, it didn't leave until roughly 10:30. So by the time all was said and done, I walked in the door of my house at exactly ten to two.

One last mildly interesting point about my day - I hadn't been able to sleep the night before, thanks to my wonky schedule. So from the time I left to about the time I finally was able to go to bed, I'd been awake for roughly 38 hours.

I have to call back tomorrow and formally say "Yes, I'm a sucker. Put me on a ship."

In other news, finally saw Pirates of the Caribbean. Mmmm...now I can see why the slashdom for that movie is ever increasing. I'll have to see what sort of lists there are for me to join...I think there's an lj community, but to date I haven't been able to find it. Actually, I've already been yelled at by a couple of people, who apparently find jack/norrington distasteful...'twould appear the pairing is not a kosher one. Meh, that's never stopped me before. Hell, lj buddy [livejournal.com profile] nanthimus has me reading snape/harry fics, something I never thought I'd get into it. Ah, how easily we fall..

alright, enough rambling for one day. I'm actually in the mood to write today, so I think I'll do that while trying to think about being on a ship and out of contact for a year.
