*headdesk*
Aug. 4th, 2004 11:40 amSo my fluff challenge is supposed to originals only...then a girl from the yaoi comm asked if she could just submit a fanfic since she sucks at originals and I said sure before I thought about it.
Because it really isn't fair is it? Ugh, I should've just made it open to begin with and spared myself this flare of idiocy. I mean I know a few people probably would have preferred to write fanfics rather than original, and it's kind of mean to change the rules now but I can't just change my mind - the girl is really sweet and it's only my impulsive nature that got me into this fix.
Blarghness

On a completely unrelated note, I seem to have created a story that *gasp* has a female protagonist and *double gasp* next to no slash. It's only a teeny part of the whole story and you never really hear (or see) much about it except indirectly.
I was thinking of playing with it on fp.com, create a new identity and moonlight as a het writer. Oh, vile betrayer me. I was trying to decide on what alcohol to call myself after. Whiskey? Hmm...
Also related to this story, I need to find a good place to research Revolution-period America and....I'm thinking 20/30's America. Maybe 40's.
I'm switching b/t that story, Embrace, and a Greek story right now. If I finish the first chapter, I'll post it here for your amusement.

Also unrelated, I got a call from City Group. Not sure what that is, but I'm thinking it's something financial. Which means I'm probably in deep shit. B/c being completely broke I haven't been able to pay my bills and all. Blah.

Date: 2004-08-04 09:57 am (UTC)I figure if you are doing het, then you need a name like Harvey Wallbanger. ^^
Of course this site lists a drink called Hey Bitch, Come Here.

Actually, that's kinda really cool! *bounces* I'm always curious to see how people who write predominately slash write het when they do it.
Um, plus, I just like reading your stories. ^-^

Date: 2004-08-04 01:13 pm (UTC)Heh, I'm actually really taken with the story. I'll probably post it later tonight. It's called The Crystal Ball and it's about ghosts and seances and all that cool stuff.

Since I have no plans for the weekend, would you like to get together and watch some movies on Friday?
My place is available, as always.
S had mentioned the zoo & discount tickets last weekend. As a suggestion, a group of us could go do that on Saturday.
Let me know if any of that sounds good or if anyone has a counter-suggestion.

Date: 2004-08-04 04:58 pm (UTC)You are the god of this little contest, you can do as you please. Besides, you're not changing them in a bad way, you're opening up to more content. And, I don't see any place where it says you can only submit one reply to the challenge, so people that submitted originals can still submit fanfics if they please. =)
On a completely unrelated note, I seem to have created a story that *gasp* has a female protagonist and *double gasp* next to no slash.
=D I've got one of those eating at my attention span as well. (Then Speed Racer runs it over with the Mach 5, and I'm back to slashing.) There's nothing wrong with being able to write in multiple genres. It just proves your flexability as a writer.
Whiskey?
Moonshine! XD
Also related to this story, I need to find a good place to research Revolution-period America and....I'm thinking 20/30's America. Maybe 40's.
I've done most of my research through the History Channel, but that's not the most reliable of sources. Not because of their content, but because you can't always catch the shows you need. =/
Just do a general search on the era and you should be able to find some pretty good pages for them. Also, any movies focusing on the time period can give you a very good look at the clothing and general look of the time. The Untouchables and The Road to Perdition are my faves for the 1920's mob era. For the Revolution, The Patriot is the only one that comes to mind...

Date: 2004-08-04 05:53 pm (UTC)Yeah, finding revolution period movies is a tough one. Civil war is easy though.
