Ah, Lawyers
Aug. 23rd, 2004 10:23 pmOne day on the job and I already they annoy me, though everyone else is great. But some amusing tidbits, because overall I think I'm going to really enjoy this job.
FBT (Fox Brown Todd) occupies floors 18,19, 21-25, & 27 of a building in downtown Cinci. Ikon is located in their service center (read: OWNS the service center), which takes up a good chunk of 23. Anyway - the rest of the floors are given over to various and sundry parts of the law business. Real Estate, Immigration, etc. (I'm forgetting the proper terminology right now). And they all share - there's usually two-four departments on each floor. Ikon shares space with HR, for example.
Except Litigation, which takes up a floor and a fourth.
And dude, I think it's a prereq that you're name be either fucked up or cool. I can't even remember all of them, one was something like Bumkrunk.Which is the only glaring downside to my job - to do it really well, I have to memorize the better part of some 900 names. A lot of those being the pissy lawyers who get into snits if I get anything wrong.
But my coworkers seem cool! And the one guy is British (why the fuck did he move here?), and while he was letting me shadow him he always *insisted* on my preceding him through the door. Cutest thing ever - my world, whoever reaches it first holds it.
Need to buy some good shoes this weekend, I do a lot of walking. At least....five mail runs a day? And that's picking up, there's another one to deliver. But still - lots of downtime, and at the end I basically have two hours with nothing to do (barring the occasional disaster). So sum total? Pretty damn skippy.'
But dude, the people on the bus? Way sketchy. And for the love of christ - buy pants that fit. This one guy had his stomach hanging out the front and his ass crack sticking out the back b/c his pants wouldn't stay up. Ye gods was I glad I'd skipped breakfast.
On to writing and reading now. Ki-chan, I'm still displeased with you for stopping where you did - and for nixing the middle bit. BAD GIRL. XP
