Not a bad weekend
Sep. 14th, 2003 10:14 pmI seriously doubt anyone was looking for me on aim, but if they were I apologize - I simply did not feel like talking to anyone this weekend. It was all I could do to be civil to my parents at first...but then my dad did something really awesome last night and today, so I guess I have to get over myself now.
My dad handed me his credit card last night and more or less ordered me to blow fifty bucks on Sasuga, which is wear I buy most of my manga (he did this after me and my sister started wailing in agony at the discover of a higuri you series we were unaware of - we'd been joking around, but he asked how much they generally cost and then tossed the card at me.)
Then today he gave me forty bucks to blow at the bookstore. So all in all I have a pretty sweet haul, and if you feel like reading my comments on a yummy new slashy - esque series I found today, do click below. Otherwise, just ignore my ramblings.
Manga purchased:
Love mode #8,9 (mmmmmmm)
Gorgeous Carat #2 (really cute higuri series)
Kan tarera #1,2(want. now. must. have.)
god child #5 (I'm in love with the pyscho Dr. Is anyone surprised by this? shut up ang.)
Today's purchases included more contributions to TokyoPop, unfortunately I couldn't find Fake #3 (grrr) but I'm oddly entertained by CLAMP School Detectives, as well as Dukylon so I got those instead, as well as Chronicles of the Cursed Sword, which seems interesting (if only the King would hook up w/the brother rather than the sister as I fear he will, norg.)
Otherwise, I looked for the book recommeneded by
skylark97 but I was unable to locate it as of yet. But I get paid tomorrow, and if I have any extra cash, I will buy that and Fake off of B&N.
Slashy book: So far there are four (though one involves a chick) but here is the theme spanning all of them. Tell me your thoughts:
Men called the King's Blades are selected to protect either the King or someone chosen by the King. But how do they do this? Why, they have to swear an oath that culminates in the stabbing of the Blade by the protectee through the heart. After that, the Blade has no choice but to protect that person (man) for life. It's a driving need, something they can't help. The protectee becomes the focal point of their life - they literally are the "brightest" thing in the room. Did I mention during the ceremony that the protectee stand on the symbol representing the element of love? And there's tons more, this book has me cracking up. The one I'm reading is called The Gilded Chain, and as I said, there are at least three others.
Alright, I'm sure you're fed up reading all of this babbling. I'll stop now. I have books to be reading anyway.

Gorgeous!!!
Date: 2003-09-15 05:31 am (UTC)I've been blowing money like it's my j.o.b. because I need stuff for England--not like I really do, but you know how back-to-school is, and this is pretty much the last chance I got before I'm kicked out on my ass with my own $$$, then I'm a cheap biatch.
Why didn't you buy any more Hot Red Man??? :)
Anyways child... that is truly awesome and it gives you something to look forward to. He probably pitied your sad existence and figured indulging you a little bit would make you happy for a while, which is always nice. Parents and guilt are pretty good together. ;)
I'm sooo excited for you!!! That is awesome. I'm going to send your b-day present from England as soon as I get oriented in my new damn time zone. I think Todd is probably in a coma right now. HAHAHA.
Love ya! :)

Date: 2003-09-15 08:33 pm (UTC)And remind me why we were so eager to be on our own and paying for things by ourselves? B/c this dad footing the bill thing has merit. Nevermind, I just remembered why I do eventually want out.
Personally I think blowing money should be a job - not everyone can spend money well.
A postcard would totally rock, but like I told Gomes - I don't need a gift.
You leave wednesday right? If I don't talk to you before then, have a good time! Give'em hell, hopefully I'll see there around xmas time!
