Somebody shoot me
Jan. 5th, 2005 05:58 pmI don't think this day could have been horrible if I'd actively tried to make it so. And I fucking hate every last one of my coworkers at this moment. Except F & J, they're still cool.
All I want is a nice meal, a book and my bed. Unfortunately, all I'm going to get is my bed. Probably very very late tonight.
*tries to remember some good things*
Mailed out a "response" to the people hitting me with the arbitration notice. If it's postmarked on the deadline, that's still good right? Probably not. But still. I wrote it and sent it. That's something. Called my contact at the credit service, she says I still have 'til the middle of the month, and that they don't really care about getting a response - they just want lawyer mumbo-jumbo that says I'm not a criminal or anything. So I'm better off than I thought I was - in the orange and not the red.
Got to help with runs today. I love wandering around downtown, especially via skywalks. And I went to the U.S. District Court on my own, which means the two main runners really trust me now.
Allowed myself half a cup of real coffee (and whoever says decaf tastes the same is full of shit, I can tell you that). Sadly, was probably the only thing that made me smile all day. Still - coffee ^_^
Am wearing a new shirt today, and I love it love it.

Date: 2005-01-05 11:45 pm (UTC)"Man, I can hear the wheels turning in your head all the way upstairs. Having a hard time of it?"
Henry glanced up to see Kyle and frowned before throwing himself dramatically over the papers with a worn out sigh. "It was written by aliens. Little evil math aliens. Who want my money."
"What are little aliens going to do with your money? Make you the king of their midget land?" There was a smirk on Kyle's face, and Henry scowled.
"For the last time! I. Am. Not. A. Midget!"
"I'm sorry. Vertically challenged?"
Growling, Henry abandoned the bills and the taxes in favor of launching himself out of the chair to tackle Kyle to the floor. Since Kyle was a giant, he had farther to fall to the ground, so Henry took great pleasure in the heavy thud that Kyle made landing on their hardwood floors. "We can't all live in our own climates." Henry scrambled madly, trying to pin Kyle down, knowing as he did so that it was a losing battle.
He did get a good bite on the thigh in though before Kyle cried for mercy. Of course, since Kyle was laughing so hard he was crying, it didn't quite feel like the victory that Henry had been hoping for. "Oh god, it's like watching an Oompa Loompa try to take out Jet Lee!"
Personally, Henry thought Kyle was a bit cracked to be comparing himself to Jet Lee. If anything, it was like fighting a very inept Godzilla who resorted to wet willies and sneezes to the face when the match wasn't working to his favor. He made the mistake of saying as much.
"Oh, you think so, do you?" Kyle had that gleam in his eye, and warily Henry nodded. And then Kyle attempted to pounce and Henry ran.
Twenty minutes and five mad scrables up the stairs, around the sofa in the den and one nasty colision with the kitchen table, Henry found himself back at his table surrounded by bills and taxes.
"I hate money."
"I know," Kyle said in one of his rare moments of sympathy, landing a kiss on Henry's head as he placed a can of pop on the table beside him.
And really, how sweet was that? Having someone who would run you ragged to get out all the tension and then get you a nice can of cold pop to quench your thirst? That was the sweet, sensitive and caring man he'd fallen for! Henry smiled happily, grabbing the can.
The abnormally short can.
The tiny can.
The midget can that had at one time probably aspired to be an adult can, but was now forever stuck in adolescence.
"What the hell is this?!"
"I went to the grocery store, and discovered much to my amazement, that they now make pop in your size, shorty."
And as Henry gave chase, he decided that this was probably the best cure for the stress of tax season that Kyle had stumbled upon yet.
****
I'll write something much better later when aliens give me back my brain.
Until then, hope things get better. *hugs* At the least, I hope you can have a relaxing night once you get home!

And Aliens. Yes. It all becomes so clear now.
