The first guy interviewed today is something of a writing fiend, apparently. He's working on two novels, about which he apparently wouldn't shut up during his interview, and has been published in a few places for nonfiction work.

This led to my boss asking me what I write, recalling that yesterday I'd made a crakc about my feeble attempt at sci-fi. I told him, "I write fantasy, contemp fiction and apparently have a knack for butchering fairytales."

Luckily I didn't have to elaborate, b/c shortly thereafter the conversation turned to what a scumbag Bush is and then to Michael Moore, whom my coworkers apparently think is "The Man."

I realize that people here disagree with my opinions, which is cool. You also debate with me and all. These people? It honestly makes me horribly uncomfortable to even attempt to discuss my various interests and what I actually write. How sad is that?

Speaking of Fairytales, though. ^_^ Maile's is coming right along and Ki-chan's will shortly follow if all goes according to plan.

That's okay. My housemates don't understand my tastes and stuff either, so I've stopped trying to explain.

And Yaaaaaaaay! Fairytales! Fairytales!

When I'm finally rich and famous, I'm going to make buy/create a slash apartment complex so that we may frolic freely in our obsessions and not be considered weird or strange for once.

And I'm going to paint it bright pink.

Slightly Disturbing

You work with some interesting people to be sure. Michael Moore is their hero? Give me a break. People need to learn to really listen and think for themselves. Might give them a headache though.
Got a joke for you:
"If a lawyer and an IRS agent were both drowning, and you could only save one of them, would you go to lunch or read the paper?"
Hope it made you smile!!!!! Love You Monster

I would think that most of the anti-slash camp would be in the pro-Bush section so that you'd be safe. I would think that, but I don't.

I simplify things by believing that 99% of people in politics are scumbags and that I'm not wise enough to truly know who the good 1% are.

In other news, [livejournal.com profile] twilightboy has offered to Queer for the Straight Guy me. OK, not really, but it was mentioned.

Calling people in politics "scumbags" offends us "scumbags" that aren't in politics!

Where's my lawyer? Since I'm offended, I'm supposed to sue, right?

Sorry, how about two-faced robots?

I guess that would be an insult to two-faced robots since robots with two faces are cool. I think "politician" is a good enough insult.

While I do defend Moore's first "documentary," Roger & Me, his later films prove him to be a giant assbag who only occasionally has a good point by accident (but anyone can do that).

So there you go, I have retracted my scumbag comments for both :)

Were they talking about the Oscar Nominations that came out this morning? I saw that Moore's documentary wasn't nominated for either best film or best director... or even best documentary. I figured maybe that would be a big topic?

*shrugs* what do I know? I saw like... two films that got nominated this year.

A Movie

Brandie and I saw the previews for a movie called "Constantine". It looks really good. Based on a comic book character and concerns demons and angels. Brandie thought you would like it, so check out the website. It does look pretty interesting. Ok, one more joke. I'll quit, I swear. /grins evil grin

Q: What is the difference between a dead dog in the road and a dead lawyer in the road?
A: There are skid marks in front of the dog.

I know what you mean about the discussing your beliefs and stuff. It's trendy to be liberal, but if you're even tipping towards being moderate or socially conservative, suddenly you're the shunned to the margins of any social group.

I know. That's why I keep my big mouth shut about my political views and the fact that I'm a practicing Episcopalian. It's okay for everyone else I know to mock Christianity, but I'm not allowed to say anything about the wiccans, agnostics, atheists, and the other assorted religions that manifest themselves.

Hmm... people really aren't as liberal as they'd like to think they are, really.

Don't worry about it... you'll be fine. :)

^_^ Thanks!

Still working on it, I'm afraid it got pushed to the way side a bit when I got distracted by other things.

I know, what you mean... I tell people a bit about what I write and their reaction... my brother thinks I am a pervert, and my mother thinks I could become a serial killer because in all my stories, somebody dies/is killed... but at least I managed to get my best friend to read slash too and now she's addicted.

To Michael Moore... he has some nice ideas and I liked "Bowling for Columbine", but "The Man"??? No, thank you. His last movies was... bad. I know people like your co-workers and they can be really annoying. Tolerance is not only a problem for conservatives, but also for liberals, who do not tolerate anybody who isn't liberal.
