progress is being made
Jan. 26th, 2005 06:21 pmHave finished editing Kidnapped. Now I just have to go through and actually put all the changes in. Then I have to figure out where to add new stuff, where to add whole new chapters...not to mention this thing is going to like double in size just b/c I'm actually going to add description. Such a novelty for me, description.
But hey, stage one of many done. I get a treat.
Karmikel was a brat. He knew he was, had once made a point to be one. If he'd gone a day without pissing someone off, obviously he wasn't trying hard enough.
For years he'd been that way, had done his very best to see to it that no one could stand to be around him. He'd learned early on that "please leave me alone" didn't work half so well as "go the hell away, moron." Picking fights worked wonders.
Because the only way to avoid getting matched was to avoid all the people he could. Attachment was his worst enemy, and from the moment he'd been free of his mother's grasp he'd worked hard to make sure no one could stand to be around him. Piss off one person and they'll spread their dislike of you to others.
Simple.
Then he'd acquired the Brilliant and life was easier than ever. He could comminicate, assist and yet not have to get close to a single soul.
And then stupid Mendel had to go and ruin it all by getting him to help rescue Cyan. Years and years of effort lost in a single damned moment and now he was matched.
Funny how that was the least of his concerns right now. It had never occured to him their could be something more binding than a match. What could be worse than having to follow some stranger around the rest of your life, simply because your magic liked his magic? There didn't seem to be anything stronger than that.
Seems he'd been wrong. Some bonds were stronger, and tougher, and more life altering than even being matched. It annoyed him to no end that he wasn't as mad about it as he should be. That he was actually sort of liking it.
Not that he was going to tell Lark that. The man was already insufferable as it was.

Date: 2005-01-27 02:05 am (UTC)I do love these guys. (Even if I think Lark and Cyan would still make a good couple.)
