So. This secretary calls me early afternoon and says she'll have a filing at four. No good, b/c the hamilton county courthouse closes at four. But we can take it to the Justice Center, which I explain to her, so all is well. Then the lawyer she works for calls me and says no, it's for the federal court - which closes at five. Okay, fine.

Go on the 2:30 courthouse run, get back at twenty-five to four. Turns out that filing in question isn't for the Federal court. It's for Hamiliton - which is about a 10-15 walk. So I had to book it back to the courthouse.

It's a ten block walk, round trip.

How does a lawyer not know which courthouse he's filing at?!?!?

*is dumbfounded*

So that was my amusement for the day.

*sigh* Just cause they make the big bucks don't mean they gots da big brains...

Sad to say... I think this is a common trend among people in power at corporations/lawfirms/offices/etc.

I think you're right. The only reason I'm tempted to stay an office monkey is that it means I get to stay intelligent.

Good call. It's one reason I would consider staying in Lewistown/retail work. At least then I know I'm smarter than most of the people I work with... and they know, too. I fear for my brain cells if I try to move up in the world.
