With whom was I conversing the other day, about addictions and how crack would be cheaper than my obsessions? I think it was a coworker...

Anyway. I am rather curious as to how it would compare. Because even if we don't beat the druggies out, we'd probably come close. I mean really, most of us shell out ten bucks per for the translated stuff and at least 6-8 for import, nevermind S&H. You add on regular books, anime, collectibles...I totally bet we have the druggies beat.

Just a random 'I'm trying really hard to stay awake' thought.

Don't forget pins, music, art, convention registration, hotel, travel, and the stuff that ISN'T domestic. Oh yes, and the cost of our friendships with mundanes who don't understand our addictions.

Bah! You needed to be around when the way people got new shows was buying the import LDs at $60-80 a piece!

I got both Kodomo no Omocha LD box sets which cost $800 a piece.

Just think about how much die hard cel collectors pay!

Mike Tremena had a button made quite a few years ago saying "ANIME, Drugs would be cheaper!" so this concept has been around for quite some time.

though i usually say that i'm into anime because it is cheaper than crack, since i've heard that crack in cheaper than a cup of coffee in most places, i stand corrected. leave it to me to find an expensive addiction >.

Given the nature of generalizations I'll assume the stereotype that people high on a variety of drugs are prone to massive orgies and other such sex fests. Female attendance is to be expected.

So? At least with LSD there's a chance that two chicks are going to be sidewinding each other by dawn's break. If nothing else at least I'd have a hand and drug induced dillusions that I was watching two hot models at a buffet.

With you people? Nothin' doin'. I mean jeese, all that money and it always comes back to butt sex between two guys. What's fun about that? I mean, owwwwwwwww. Drugs may ruin your life, but at least the sex is good for a while. You guys just want to complicate bowel movements all the time. And that's a real shame.

I would so take drugs over you.
