THE WOMAN WHO WROTE THIS IS AMAZING AND SHOULD BE A MODEL FOR US ALL.
I have just resolved right now to start looking for satan in absolutely everything, write articles about my findings, and post them on fanatical christian websites. I cannot think of a single better use of my time.
This is going to be AWESOME. Where do I even begin?
Man, there are dozens of places you could start. It's so hard to pick. Umm...I say go back to the old days and find Satan in The Babysitter's club. I'd say Sweet Valley but that would be too easy.
Your vehemence "start looking for satan in absolutely everything" is a cry to inspire others to do the same and in so doing, be drawn into his web!
Also your use of AWESOME is contrary to God's teaching. The word itself proclaims that SOME may AWE when only The Trinity can do so! I denounce your false idols!
And if I stare hard enough at your words, I can see that forms the image of George Clooney having sex with a goat!
I cannot get over how great this is. I love the "Tom, Dick or Harry" = The Holy Trinity paragraph. "In England, the saying every Tom, Dick and Harry is highly popular and in this case alludes to the omnipresence of God in our world." That's beautiful. I mean, not just anyone could pull that out of their ass like that. That takes TALENT. Especially the deliberate misnaming of "Nearly Headless Dick."
That especially was amusing. Never mind that the point is entirely without validation or substantiation anyway, it's rendered even more so by her inability to get the damned name right.
I would say she did it on purpose, but given the context of what she's attempting to say, I assume it's more likely she just desperatly wants that to be right, because it helps her argument so much better and fits the expression so much more neatly.
I'd be interested in hearing more about Dobby's somehow being the embodiment of "all the evils of stem-cell research". One of the biggest lessons I ever got about writing--never bring in a new point or argument unless you intend to expound upon it and explain.
You can't just randomly say something like that and not clue us in on the how and why of it. I want to hear about this one, damn it!
It is the most interesting things she says...and then does absolutely nothing with. I think if she'd simply picked that as her thesis, she might have had an article worth reading. If, you know, she could get a grasp of scholarly writing and not zealous claptrap writing.
Yeah, I've never heard the saying "Every Tom, Nick, or Harry." While some of the author's arguments are interesting, I get the overall feeling that this person is slightly crazy and paranoid. It would be funny except for one thing.
Tom is one of my favorite characters. (This should not surprise you.) And I am not sure how I feel about him being "Jesus". I mean, the story of Jesus is cute and very entertaining, but the whole idea causes Tom to lose the bad boy appeal XP
I think I'll stick to my theory that the author is nuts.
" It was with fear and a great sense of shame and guilt that I touched the cover of a Harry Potter book for the first time, and then forced myself to sit through the movies. For weeks I had prayed and asked for guidance, and I hope it was God's will that I did, and saw with my own eyes what is foisted upon the eyes and minds of our children."
Heaven forbid she should touch the book's cover and get Satan germs all over her.
The shock. The horror. Harry's the antichrist? And Tom Riddle, whom J.K. depicts as a murderer and generally evil person is... God? Does that mean the christian god is evil? I don't understand. Was this thing a joke?
I liked that she prayed for weeks about it. "Dear God, should I or should I not read the Harry Potter books?"
I mean, life has got to be either very, very uncomplicated or very, very surreal in order for the biggest worry that you can obsess over and prayer over be whether or not you should read a children's book or watch a children's movie...
well. hm. theologically driven logic is rather... um... bizarre. i never realized that jesus (if tom riddle is being protrayed as) was out to kill us all. i guess you learn something new every day.
on a side note- read some of the other "summaries" of the other "evil" religions. buddism by far is the most ammusing. truely these people need to get out more.
Wow. Her explanation of Taoisim gave me a headache. Buddhism made me laugh. And dude, she's a brave woman calling Catholicism a False Religion. Gods, I think this site just became my new favorite distraction. The amusement does not end...
