Read Garth Nix's intro bit for the Abhorsen short story.

I wonder, from time to time, whether I'm a real writer or just someone who plays at it online. It's a confidence issue, I know. But it's hard to believe sometimes that I'm actually working toward what I always thought was beyond me - becoming a published writer.

Mostly it's my habits and tendencies not to write when I should, stuff like that, that gets to me. My impression of professional writers is that they're far more with it than I.

So it makes me feel better to read Nix's snippets and learn that a lot of his habits and tendencies in writing and notemaking are much like mine. Stupid, but I find that encouraging (especially in fantasy, where I seem to be the only person that doesn't create a language and elaborate world and sheet after sheet of customs and crap).

Lord I wish I could fall asleep.

HP, however, is still occuping my thoughts too much to permit that. I think it's time to go watch the stupidbox, that always puts me out.

You're very much not the only one that doesn't create languages and all of that. I don't even have a map yet(and may not ever). I'm always so worried that I'm not focusing on world-building enough but then again, I don't *want* to be like Tolkein or any other one of those really hardcore groundwork people.

I need to read that intro. Hell, I need to continue reading his books. ^^

I also need to buy the new HP. Can't till Thursday. Ah well.

That's because the idea of me creating a map is so laughable it's not even worth mentioning.
