I have a bad habit of jotting down story bits that come to me (be it dialogue, a scene, explanations for things, character synop, et) in whichever notebook I have nearest to hand. Currently I have...six notebooks, three of which are on me wherever I go (this is why Megan will never carry a small purse). This, of course, means that one story is often scattered between 2-6 notebokos.

Sat down this morning while I should have been working and consolidated my Prisoner notes. O_o wow I wrote lot more than I'd realized.

Right now it's roughly divided into two parts of 15 chapters each. I would like to see if I could make it 20-30 chapters each, but this is nanowrimo and I only have time to write so much. Plus, I hate fantasy stories that carry on forever and a day. A pleasant surprise, and you'd think I'd remember writing all this, was finding I'd either written out (very roughly) or sketched the four biggest scenes in the story. Given how annoying two of them are going to be, given the way they have to overlap and coordinate, I am pleased I have the roughs done.

Now I just need the middle bits. And for Esta to stop being so damned bitchy.

Speaking of Prisoner, I won't be posting it like I've posted my other nanostories. I may post snippets from time to time, but if I'm going to delude myself into thinking its worth publishing try to get it published, I probably shouldn't be putting it online, ever under locks. We'll see. I'm not very good at keeping my own secrets.

I think you should definately definately try to get something published <333 Although, you know, that's also a pretty ambitious goal so you might need more betas to read it before you sent it in and stuff. I volunteer.I have good credentials. Want references?

If you are thinking of trying to get it published (and I think you seriously should) then you should first private lock everything you have posted so far and not even show US snippets. (Inside I'm crying, but really, that is what you should do.)

You are such a good and prolific writer, more people read your stuff than you think. Than are on your flist. And when you write as well as you do, you can attract unscrupulous people who will not think twice about stealing your stuff. Especially when you say you are thinking of publishing.

God, I hate being so cynical, but I'd rather you be safe than burned.

It makes me sad, but your words are wise.

Warren Ellis had a LJ that he wrote a bunch of short stories in that he kep putting a disclamer at the end saying they were copyrighted by him & that they were going to be for some book that contained (about) 30 short stories.

So if Maderr just went & did the (c) thing on her stories, she should be somewhat safe.

Oh! That is a good idea! And I saw the link too. Is that for self publications?

Why, yes it is! If you've ever been to cafepress, this is similar, but for books & the like. I found it thru Chugworth Academy Webcomic, since that guy is selling his first book of his comic thru lulu.

I remember ^_^ It's always at the back of my mind. I may try a smaller project as a test run for lulu.

Since I don't think there is a minimum page #, try something you've finished already & give it a go. Worse case is that it sucks & you never go back to it again, but since you have to format the pages based on what their requirements are, best to try it out with a low page count, than a high page count.

Smaller project? Book of fairytales? ^___^ I'll buy it! I bought Lavendar Onion's book (after taking forever and a day to figure out where she published it) and it's just as yummy as I remember it being so many years ago on the AYML. ^____^

Though seriously, if you want to publish anything you've done so far as a test run, I'll buy it. I love pretty much everything you've written with the possible exception of Embrace cause I'm not a big vampire fan. >.>; But then neither are you, so...... ^^;;

I wish that you wouldn't stop posting Prisoner, but I thoroughly agree that you should try to get it published. Good Luck!
