writing during lunch
Sep. 12th, 2005 12:46 pmSo pardon the errors and the incompleteness. I tend to write fast and not look back.
"I mean it, Jason. Not. One. Prank. From this millisecond," she squeezed for emphasis. "Until I am long gone on my honeymoon, you will behave. I catch you even thinking about doing something and I will make certain these pictures--" She waved a small picture album in the air with her free hand. "Get to all the people you don't want to see them."
Calvin made sure he was well out of arm's reach. "Are those flames shooting out of her eyes?"
Paige turned to glare at him, still holding onto Jason. "Don't think that cute, angsty art-boy look you've got going has me fooled. I'll have my eye on all three of you. The minute I suspect anything, you'll suffer all new levels of my wrath." With a last shake and squeeze, she let go of Jason's throat and let him stand on his own feet again. She was still looking at Calvin, a considering look overtaking her threatening glare. "Actually, I just got a better idea. C'mere, you."
Figuring obedience was the wiser and less painful course, Calvin cautiously stepped closer. Paige was too eerily reminiscent of Rosalyn, to the point he wanted to run for his life. But running, Jason had told him, only made things worse.
"Here," Paige said, and thrust a photo at him. She held it so that Jason, examning the bruises on his throat in a nearby mirror, could not see it. "If the three of you behave, and let me get through my wedding without incident, I'll give you the rest of that set." She smirked as Calvin's eyes bugged out. "Now get, so I can get dressed. Jason, now!"
"Going, going." Jason grabbed the thoroughly distracted Calvin's wrist and high-tailed it out of the house, leaving his sister with Andy and their friends to get the bride ready. "Well, that was less painful than I thought it would be. What are you looking at?"
"Huh?" Calvin flushed guiltly. "S-something Paige gave me. A bribe, I think."
"What?" Jason frowned. "Let me see."
"You might be happier not," Calvin said, then grinned with irrepressible mischief. "But you're very cute as a little girl. I love the apron."
Jason paled. "THEY TOOK PICTURES OF THAT?!?!" Desperate, he tried to snatch the picture away.
Calvin laughed and danced out of range. "Shouldn't you be cancelling the, um, entertainment?"
"You are *so* going to pay for this. I can't believe she gave you that! I can't believe you took it! And not I am *not* cancelling the entertainment. She's going to pass out pictures, I'm going to drive her insane."
"But," Calvin protested with a pout. "If you misbehave I don't get more of these." He started laughing at the look on Jason's face - then turned and started running down the street.
"Get back right now!" Jason roared and chased after.
Calvin ran full tilt, knowing he was in much better shape and could keep ahead of Jason unless he wandered too far and got lost - he still was only passingly familiar with Jason's hometown. He turned to look over his shoulder, grinning to see that Jason was already losing wind.
Turnin back, he saw too late the man turning the corner.
"Ah!" They collided with thuds and crunches that were as painful as they sounded.
Calvin groaned. "Sorry!"
"Man, it's a good thing I decided to change at Jason's place. What did you do? We don't have anything scheduled until the reception. No fair improving with out me."
"Sorry, Marcus." Calvin helped the other man up. "I was running from Jason."
"From Jason?" Marcus blinked his dark eyes, confused. He stared at his best friend as Jason came to a panting stop before them.
"Give. It. Back."
Calvin grinned. "You didn't give it to me, so how can I give it back to you?"
"You're supposed to be on my side," Jason complained, snatching at the picture as Calvin handed it to Marcus.
"Wow," Marcus stared at the picture. "You were really cute as a little girl."
"You can both go to hell."

Date: 2005-09-12 05:30 pm (UTC)I read that lady or the tiger story. I hate the ending. I tried to write a better one but eljay ate it ;_; It was good, too. The tiger ate the lady and then jumped into the audience to snack on the author of the story for dessert. I think Hobbes would be proud.
