Started the day at the Carolina Christmas show, definitely spent more money there than I should have. But the pottery was gorgeous so I caved and bought this beautiful blue mug. I really wanted some of the red stuff - the most beautiful red I've ever seen - but it was way too expensive. Also bought some pistachio/chocolate bread, and a necklace charm for my little sister.

Then we went to Barnes & Noble - mmmmm, bookstore, mmmm. My one true love is the written word, no two ways about it. Bought a fantasy anthology called Firebirds and a novel listed on the proslash list as pretty good.

Lastly we went to R.E.I. where I bought the Book Bag O'Death for my trip to Europe. The guy there helping me made me walk around the store with a couple of different bags, weighted down to try them out and all. There is nothing funnier than a store full of guys so happy about their sports & hiking equipment they're oblvious to everything else. But they rocked, it was actually a lot of fun just b/c everyone there was so nice. And the one guy helping me was really funny just b/c he was scared to adjust any straps for fear of touching me the wrong way or something.

Now - read or write? Actually, I think I'll go eat first.

mind? what mind? I'm going nuts - I've never done a trip quite like this so I'm basically "umm...what do I do now?"

You take a deep breath and remember to dodge the excrement on the back alleys in Rome. You remember that the people in Paris are nasty but the sights more than make up for it. You hit the clubs in London and party till dawn and make fun of me since I was too young to get in when I went. You look at the leaning tower of Pisa and wonder how the hell it's still standing. You gawk in awe at the ancient beauty that is the Vatican. You snicker at the poor David's little.. *ahem* You fight tears because you are actually standing in front of THE Mona Lisa. You toss a lira or two in the Font De Trevi. You get caught in the ethereal sparkle of the rose windows of the Notre Dame Cathedral and feel the ghosts of the past drift by you in it's catacombs. You avoid the gypsies and watch your wallet at the Spanish Steps. You stand in the Colosseum and shiver at the total silence. You remember that no matter how tired you get there is always something new and interesting just around that corner. You go to the top of the Eiffel Tower and see just how beautiful Paris really is. And most importantly. You take lots of pictures and make lots of stories to tell those of us stuck at home ;)
