Am thinking of attempting the whole lulu.com thing again, as it does not seem as intimidating as it once did. Were I to do so, would anyone care? What stories would you like to see in print? Price cap?

I only ask b/c if I do this, it'll eat chunks of time to format the stories accordingly, as well polish up the older ones like Treasure and some of the fairytales.

On that note, would Sammikins and ki-chan like to tackle some of my stories and edit the bloody hell out of them? When you have time, Ki. I know school is eating you alive - even your dreams XD

Aaaaaaactually, maybe you should compile all of the Kidnapped universe stories? Off the top of my head there's Kidnapped, Jewels of Bangkok and the SMP story you did? Um. With a ship captain called Horizon, I think his name was??

(Aw, I wish Sixpence and/or Unequal and/or Midsummer were completed. I'd totally want hard copies of those. *__________*)

If I did Kidnapped, which I probably will, I would def include all those short stories.

Lol. I'll do what I can, babe.

Were there other Kidnapped-universe stories? I don't think so right?

Heh. *glomps* No pressure though. It's just an idle thought.

I think my cap would be about $10 for a paperback.
And yes, I would love to get some of your stories in print.

All I know is that the enormous effort I put into formatting my novels for Lulu has not been worth it - nowhere near as many people ordered the books as said they would. Maybe Xmas got in the way - but I'm skeptical.

If you decide to go ahead and want any help with formatting etc, please let me know.

Heh, well you know I want 'em, since I ask you for stories in dead tree format one a week or so... ;)

And the last time I bought a book from a webauthor, it ran me $15 for the book, and $15 to ship it from Europe. -.-;; Stupid overseas shipping...

P.S.

Did you see today's Foxtrot? They actually mention Calvin & Hobbes in the strip! ^_____^ *insane giggling*

;P Yes, even in my dreams. Sad, ain't it?

I don't mind. Just let me get to my next break. Do you want me and Sammie to work on the same ones? We're likely to catch most things that way, but it'll be much slower than if you have us do different fics, obviously.

And what is lulu.com?

I'm guessing that lulu.com is like a sort of publisher? We pay, they send us your hard copy fics? Sounds good, if it is not too much work. I would order a couple of favorites, at the very least. Which? ...hard to narrow it down...

I know you already have beta-readers, but if you ever need extra help in that department, or with formatting, I'd be happy to help.

lulu.com is a print on demand service, and basically the author is responsible for formatting their own books. Readers can order one or hundreds, as they wish. The cost is pretty good for POD.

I'd get your printed books in a heartbeat -- or whenever I put the money in my PayPal account. Reading online makes my eyes hurt after a while, so having it in print would be a great blessing. And, then I can loan it out to my friends. =)

Just for grins, I played with the pricing calculator. I'm not sure how long your published book would be, but going from the flat printing rates, I wouldn't mind paying up to three dollars beyond the flat rate.

Flat rate for printing without author's markup:
400 pages, 6x9, B&W, Perfect Bound = $12.54
350 pages, 6x9, B&W, Perfect Bound = $11.54
300 pages, 6x9, B&W, Perfect Bound = $10.54
250 pages, 6x9, B&W, Perfect Bound = $9.54
200 pages, 6x9, B&W, Perfect Bound = $8.54
150 pages, 6x9, B&W, Perfect Bound = $7.53
100 pages, 6x9, B&W, Perfect Bound = $6.53

(I'm beginning to see a trend...)

Formating shouldn't be too hard once you get the page numbering figured out, right? Unless you're doing fancy headers or footers -- then it could get complicated. But if you need help, you've got an entire friends' list to figure it out.

Oh, and, er, I don't really mind shelling out money for hard copies of your work, because, well, you know, loooooooooooove. *hearts you*

Anyway I'm a mad collector. :P
