The ads for it make me want to stab myself.

The one long trailer I saw for it make me want to stab whomever made it.

If I ever am forced to see that movie, violent things will happen.

I heard a rumor that the woman whose memories those memoirs came from was mad when she saw the book because she saw it as a happy time in her life.

So if the movie was a poor portrayal of the book, and the book was a poor portrayal of the woman's actual stories? I don't want to see it, either.

That and I don't know anyone who did see it who actually liked it :D

I heard she liked it; I remember the book being really joyous in its own strange way.

Eh. *shrug*

Any particular reason?

It's hideously done. It would be like doing a movie on the American Revolution and casting all German actors and have them behave as germans think americans behave. The cast is heavily Chinese, which is just insultingk, and it's painfully obvious the movie is by a westerner and portrays a western concept of what geisha are. that is to say, it's all wrong.

I decided to boycott when they didn't even bother to get Japanese actors. It seemed like hollywood was saying "oh no one will know anyway."

Yet another reason I refuse. That seriously pissed me off.

The book was the best thing ever, but the movie trailers just make me go "...eh, wait now, what's going on?"

I had this sudden thought- have you seen the MadTV parody of it? I'm not sure what you'll think of it but, well, I never really supported the idea of turning it into a film anyway. I just thought the parody was funny.

In case you haven't seen it and is slightly interested-
