Werewolves in outer space. Someone has got to tell me how that would work.

In other news, beng flat broke sucks. Knowing you get paid tomorrow and that you'll still be flat broke sucks more. *sigh*

Werewolves in outer space. Someone get on that. If someone writes that, I will write story/chapter of choice.

Also, the most tedious job in the world can be made fun when you've got the right peeps to keep you company. They'll never see this, but much <3 to my coworkers and the guys helping us out. I would be dedz0r without them.

Now to shower.

Werewolves in space! Has it ever been done?

Marvel comics had a character that was a werewolf & he lived in a station that was on the Earth's moon.

Basically, as long as he didn't see/feel the light reflected off the moon, he was fine. So we'd go out when the moon wasn't facing the sun & when it was, he'd stay inside the station. I assume the station either didn't have windows, or there were ways to block the windows.

I like how that one guy misspelled it as WEREWOLD. XD

But that Darkfall movie looks terrifically horribly swell.

Really? *goes looking for the extremely bad werewolf in space! romance novel she started years ago* Do I get bonus points for also sticking bat wings on them? Because nothing says space like bat winged werewolves.

What can I say? I was in 10th grade and thought I was being original. "Everyone does werewolves. I know! I'll do werewolves with bat wings. Then I'll put them in space. No one has done that before."

Never stopped to think that maybe there was a reason no one had done that before.

Hehehe. I've seen lots worse in my own notebooks, I assure you. If anyone could make werewolves with wings in space work, it would you, my dear.

Joshua punched in the code to the airlock and stepped outside the terrasphere, muttering under his breath. He hated suiting up. Space suits were hot, stuffy, and crimped his tail. And helmets never seemed quite big enough--he was always bumping his nose or getting his soft, brown ears folded oddly. Unfortunately, one needed them in order to travel from terrasphere to terrasphere. Even werewolves had to breathe.

"This would be so much easier if I were human again," he muttered. "Why did we have to chose to terraform a planet with eight moons? What bloody genius thought that up?"

In a bad mood, he glided toward the farming sphere, watching the barren landscape morosely. As he looked, he noticed a figure standing between the two domes. In his suit, he couldn't smell anything, but he knew it was Plaxi. Only Plaxi was bold enough to wear his tail outside of his suit, and only Plaxi had a coat in that smooth black.

Joshua made his way toward Plaxi. Plaxi somehow sensed him, for his tail flicked toward him in greeting. From the angle his helmet was at, Plaxi seemed to be looking up in the air at the stars. Joshua looked up, but only saw the stars and three of the moons, two pale white the other a creamy orange.

"Came to watch the stars?" Joshua finally asked.

"No." Not even the tinny rasp from their transmitters could disguise that low, growly voice. Plaxi continued to look up.

Joshua looked up again, then back at Plaxi. "Uh...then..."

"The leader."

Joshua blinked. "The...leader?"

"I warned him to take it easy until he got used to the reduced gravity outside the domes." There was a note of resignation in his voice.

Joshua blinked at Plaxi, trying to decipher his comment. Plaxi, though thrifty with his words, was seldom this mysterious. You had to be pretty frank and straightforward when you were second in command. The entire pack agreed that Plaxi was the strongest and swiftest of them all. He'd downed a charging bull before, and was faster than a deer, and could jump higher than any mountain lion; high enough to reach the top branches of hundred year old trees. Many of the pack believed that he could even jump to the top of the hunting dome, just like the pack leader did when they first--

Jump...

Suddenly, everything clicked into place. He looked back up. "Uh...how long ago--"

"Five minutes"

"...You think he's in orbit now?"

Barring that, since I love everything you write, whatever tickles your fancy. Ficbit, fairy tale, random chatter. ^_^

Dude, it's Otakon! Seven video theaters, a 3-day 35mm theater, anime music videos, panels, discussions, art show, artists' alley, a dealer's room and a separate industry room totaling over two acres? I think we're going to have tons to do. ^_^

Actually, I hate to say it, but I'll probably be even busier at Otakon than I will be at Darkover, so I don't know how much time we would spend together. Maybe you should just come and visit without the con. Or maybe S can come too!

... how would the full moon have any effect?

From: [identity profile] maderr.livejournal.com

See, that's what made me stop and think. One of the links up there says they just sort of have a montly cycle, like bleeding only you turn into a wolf. Which didn't really fly with me, b/c wolves aren't the same thing as having a uterus. So would going into space be some sort of bizarre cure? They'd just stop transforming? Then I wondered if not transforming would have some sort of adverse effect, like having a natural process forcibly stopped. Then that made me realize that of all the werewolf stories I've read, everyone harps on what wolves are like, and whether it's a diseaes or whatnot...but no one has ever explained why the moon is the determining factor. I must have missed something in the original mythology. But the point remains -- it seems to me it would cease to be a problem in space. That's what prompted the post.

Wow did you get rambled at ^^;;;

...I read a GW fanfiction with weres, and they had to return to Earth for the 3 days of the full moon, or Bad Things would happen. I don't recall what, it wasn't really a plot point. Something about physiologically needing the change, and only being affected by the moon from the planet's surface.

As far as why... it is strange that they have it be the moonbeams that effect the weres, when it is just reflected sunlight. Tides are affected by the gravity pull, and there are still supertides on the full moon, even if it is cloudy. Hm.

That would be Asuka Kureru's Garou, you can find it on her site here:

http://asukasama.free.fr/englisharchive_gw.htm

She does a pretty good job, but she hasn't updated in at least a year.

If you are interested, the story has been more recently updated here. Though, that is probably the last of it.
