(and then I'll go do more ficbits for the greedy ones in the audience ^_~)

I <3 my Skylark, and don't like when she's sad. I hope this cheers you a little bit. <3

"What is that?" Grady demanded.

Clarence beamed and presented the squirming, curly-haired bundle in arms. "He doesn't have a name yet. Isn't he cute? I saw him and just knew he was meant for this place."

Grady frowned. "It's a puppy. In my kitchen."

"Yes, Grady," Clarence said fondly, then set the dark brown pupppy down on the floor, beaming as it took off with a yip and laughing hard as it tried to climb up Grady's jeans. "See! He likes you!" He winked, brown eyes full of mirth. "Speaking of your kitchen, it smells divine. Not like mint, though."

"Trying something new," Grady mumbled, eyes still on the yipping, squirming puppy as it fought desperatly to get his attention. "Favor for Sherlock. Recipe isn't right."

Clarence slid onto a barstool and snagged the bowl in front of Grady, dipping a finger into the dark chocolate mixture. "Yummy," he said. "Really sweet, but not sugary."

Grady grunted. "Not right yet. Get this thing off me."

"It's a puppy, not a thing." But Claren slid off the stool and moved around the bar, stooping to pick up the puppy. "So what should we name him? I thought about Peppermint, but that seemed predictable and anyway it sounds more like a cat name."

"Where did you get it?" Grady asked, fussing over the array of ingredients spread across another counter, debating between boxes and bottles of various spices and flavorings.

"Shop next door to Sweet," Clarence said, cooing softly as he pet the wiggling puppy. He looked like a deliquent or misplaced punk rocker, decked out in leather and chains, hair flopping over his eyes, but those that knew him learned quickly he was the polar opposite of that appearance. "You know me, I'm a sucker."

Grady snorted and selected a tin of candied almonds, then turned to face Clarence. "For pathetic strays? Yes."

Clarence shook his head and closed the space between. "For anything cute and or sweet," he replied, kissing Grady softly.

"You're not playing fair," Grady said, but his cheeks were flushed with pleasure. He turned back to his recipe. "Name it Brownie. It looks like one. But it had better not do anything in my kitchen."

Cheering, Clarence threw one arm around his boyfriend and kissed him soundly, then snagged a handful of candied almonds before tromping out of the kitchen to show Brownie the rest of the house.

And the cat.
