"I spent most of the day wondering what gods we'd pissed off"

So if a person, oh we'll call him Donald for the purposes of pondering, were to malign and insult X god(s) in...let's go with a college setting, so obviously some sort of religion class, I wonder how said god would go about getting revenge? Send minions? Curse him? Go down and exact revenge himself?

I'd go with the greek gods, myself, just because they're fun what with the vindictiveness, the orgies, the wine, the incest...wait I think that's most religions. I'm just fond of the pantheon.

Ah, but ostensibly if you're discusisng one greek god, others are involved, since they were usually just pissing each other off or having sex. So Donald insults several of them? So it's quite likely that they draw straws (or the greek equivalent, whatever that is) to see who gets to go show the little mortal whatfor. Or possibly, and far more likely knowing the pantheon, severald decide to see who can best exact revenge.

Of course Don's personality could be anything here. Asshole know it all, w00bie loner with a penchant for snarking, clueless ape, clueless geek, and more besides. Which god(s) should be involved? Decisions, decisions...

Then there are the directions/ends for the story. Much bitterness? One or more of the gods have a change of heart and a small war ensues? They exact revenge and then feel like shit later? Don fucks them all over in a weird twist (how that would be managed is beyond me).

This had been done a million times, I know, but it was amusing enough to think about while I avoid this stupid section of dwtd and dither over everything else.

Umm....It seems that Apollo, Aphrodite, Zeus, and Hera are all easy to anger, so it's totally be them and maybe some of the others that got mad at poor Don. And they all try to smite him best, but maybe one of the other gods is like :rolls eyes: and TELLS Don that the gods ARE actually mad at him for that remark he made in Ancient History, and if he'd kindly stop beating his head against the wall? That'd be nice. Then Don trys to repent, and the gods, who are fickle, decide that they're bored of him and leave him alone. Except for the one who warned him, who won't seem to GO AWAY.

The Greek gods wouldn't draw straws, they'd throw themselves at him enmasse.

Although seeing the tangle of limbs and one god's trap accidentally snaring another god whilst the ignorant mortal walks on in oblivion would be funny. And then the gods would be all like, "Woe. This guy is good," without realizing it's their own stupidity that keep trapping them.

Mmm...Greek gods...Depending on which gods/goddesses he angered, they would fight amongst themselves, then the one of highest rank would get first crack. Followed by the next, and the next, and the next.

Apollo--curse him to fail all tests and fall incurably ill
Athene--curse him and smite him where he stands
Artemis--all animals shun him or attack him
Hera--would try to kill him (falling trees, buildings collapsing, flying debris)
Poseidon--Never go near water again, Donald. Ever.
Dionysus--Would go talk to Donald, explaining that yeah, the gods are real, and boy are they pissed at him. Then try to find a way to help him out. And then once they'd succeeded or failed, drink himself into a stupor.
Ares--Incite his followers to war against Donald and anyone associated with him until they are all dead.
Hephaestus--Don would have to do a whole lot to get Hephaestus angry, but I think he would probably open up the earth and have him swallowed by it.
Aphrodite--Causes everyone to hate him, and that he fall in love with the one who hated him the most.
