*rubs eyes* Have been editng Sandstorm all day. Just barel half done. Should keep working on it. Need break. Gonna go out, I think.

Has just occured to me I never ate today. Will do that to.

Also, want to send in a short story to Iris, since that's probably the best way to go (I'm sure they're flooded with novels and mine are no match for what they have) but I don't think any of mine are up to snuff. Thoughts? Opinions? I'm tired of always dithering and never doing. Do I have a short worth submitting?

I think all of your shorts are worth submitting, but I suppose I am biased. I quite like that one about goblins. *cough* ;)

Speaking of you, I think we shall have to resort to fisticuffs lest you have seen reason and are willing to cede Norrington to me.

Put up your dukes, what, ho, pip, pip! Pistols at dawn!

PS - If you want to fall beyond in love with Norrington, aka Jack Davenport, plz to be watching BBC's Coupling. THERE ARE NO WORDS. He plays the hero of my heart, a nerdy lanky British man named Steve who makes awkward, bumbling speeches all the time.

I shall have to seek it out.

*hugs* Love you. Please eat. >_>;;; I think I'd drive you up the wall fussing at you if I lived anywhere nearby.

All your work is worth submitting.

Hm. Short stories... Maybe your fairytales? Or Knights? Or, actually When the Lights Go Down is quite a good choice, because it's self-contained and yet not too short.

Or, if you finish Midsummer, that might be a good one to use, because it's one of your relatively short miniseries?

I don't know. x_x;; I like all your stuff.

*grin* Although I think [livejournal.com profile] wobblygoblin is right and Thorley-tachi might be interesting to submit. ^_~

I bought a smoothie to eat while I trolled the mall. =_= As I was walking, I hit a tile that was slick as fsking ice and slipped, spilling it everywhere. So, no, I still haven't eaten, alas.

Trilogy of Knights? The King's Harem? Any one of your fairytales...All of them!!!

*glomps* I think the question isn't if you have a short worth submitting, but which of all the worthy ones you have would be the best to submit. Is there any kind of length restriction on shorts? (Do they put it into an anthology? I'm a bit confused on that...) Which genre would be the most appealing to both publisher and audience?

And I'm going to stop now as I only have half a clue on any of this. ^_^;;

Still, go for it!! *tackle glomps*

On Iris, I think the short stories are within the 2500-10,000 word range. And the only genre they actively promote is slash. Beyond that, it doesn't seem to matter.

Okay, well you already know that I love everything you write with the possible exception of Embrace but we won't go into that but there are a few that I think would work best as stand-alones:

The Tower
Main Gauche
Briar Rose
Pea (Perfect?)
Be My Hero
Missing: One Arrow
A Dozen Roses
Brightleaf
DwtD: #313

Various reasons, but overall because they're self-contained, have a good ending that doesn't leave one desperate for more unless one is on your flist in which case we insist on drabbles regularly... ^^; and the characters are reasonably fleshed out without needing to go much deeper.

And, I feel compelled to add, they're all much better than what I normally find in sci-fi/fantasy anthologies that I pick up from time to time despire knowing better. -.-;

I wouldn't have thought Missing and Dozen would be anywhere on a list like that. Huh. I aslo wasn't sure they wanted to see fairytales. Hmm, okay. This is why I'll never live without you guys. You boost me up when I can't do it myself. *loves*

Ah, but the upside to Missing and Dozen is that they're short, sweet, uncomplicated, and perfect for 'just a short story.'

Oh duh. *beats head against wall* Jewels of Bangkok would probably work pretty well too. I think I read that before Kidnapped, so it works fine as a total stand-alone.

As for the fairytales... rewrites of fairytales are often very popular. Consider: Robin McKinley's "Beauty" or Mercedes Lackey's "The Fire Rose." Two of my favorites, and I know I'm not the only one... ;)

You could just combine all your fairy tales into one massive anthology all their own? But then... you still want to work on Main Gauche and others, don't you?

hmhm... Which one...

Concurance with all the above. You need to be published and that won't happen if you don't submit for publishing. Send as many as fit the catagory, give them a choice. *smile*
Umm. Iris is available where, how?

Back the first time I told you you should get published, I went through your stories and the ones I liked best for publishing were the Kights trilogy, the fairy tales (Faveorite one for publishing is "Main Gauche") and possibly some of DWTD. I think you definitely need to submit one (worst case scenario: they say no and you're exactly where you are now, best: you're finally published), and I think your best course of action would be to submit everything you think even has the tiniest chance of getting published. More stories = more options for the publisher, and you could be surprised at what they like. The creator is always the worst judge of her own work :P

Good luck! Make sure to let me know if anything gets in!

I've never posted here before (sorry, i'm a bad bad lurker) but i have to say that anything you write is amazing. My personal favorite is "Main Gauche" but I agree with everyone else who commented on this thread that anything you do could be published.
Anthologies are a good idea too! :)

Keep up your wonderful work!
Good luck!
