Date: 2006-09-09 10:57 pm (UTC)Pecan, buttermilk, pumpking, sweet potato, lemon meringue, key lime, blueberry, chocolate creme, shoo fly, chess, apple, coconut creme...seroiusly, I love them all. I don't like the pyscho pies people make - like super delux smores or ultra peant butter and jelly or whatall. But the tried and true I'm all about.

Date: 2006-09-09 11:09 pm (UTC)Buttermilk is yuuuuum. My dad is the only one I know who makes it. It's really rich, verra good.
Chess seems to be largely a local thing here, though I think it spread into Kentucky and Indiana as well. To date, no one has told me what exactly is in it. It's good, though not something I can eat a whole lot of.

Date: 2006-09-09 11:03 pm (UTC)lemon meringue, key lime, blueberry, chocolate creme, shoo fly, chess (<--huh?),apple, coconut creme, inn keeper's, and totally agreed on the whacky shit.no subject
Date: 2006-09-09 11:08 pm (UTC)Chess is something here in Cinci, and thus far no one has bothered to tell me what the fuck is in it. I think it's mostly an egg whites/sugar sort of thing. It's not bad - not something I can eat a lot of, but good.
What is inn keeper's?

Date: 2006-09-09 11:13 pm (UTC)BJ and I made inn keeper's once from our Hershey cookbook. It's got a sorta cakey top layer that's really fluffy and stuff and then fudgey sorta botteom layer of chocolate. Though the true mystery of it is that, when you actually make it, you put the top layer in first and pour the chocolate part over it. Somewhere in the baking, they switch positions. It's very weird.

Date: 2006-09-09 11:19 pm (UTC)I could look it up to see the ingredients, but I refuse to because of conversations that go something like this:
"Chess pie! That's my favorite!"
"Oh, yeah? so what's in it? I've never figured it out."
"I have no idea. but it's really good."
>_<
I remember that! I mean, you guys talking about it. Sounds weird, the baking part, but oh so very yummy.
