Digital Camera
Oct. 6th, 2006 07:44 pmIs this one good?
And I'm really only looking at Sony b/c Kenwood, where I shop and stuff, has a Sony store so I could actually go and play with the camera (though I wouldn't buy it there, though I'm also leery of buying high price electronics online...). I am however teh sux0r with this sort of thing.
I probably should't even buy it, what with not wasting my money and the holidays coming up, and may yet just decide nto to. Fun looking and thinking, though.
Just for future ref, really, is that camera along the lines of what I want? I'd apologize for being such a hopeless dork, but I know how vastly it amuzes several members of the audience.

Date: 2006-10-07 01:49 am (UTC)Weird. give me two seconds, I'll fix it.
Though I just bid on it on ebay, which was probably dumb but way cheaper than I could have found it elsewhere...me and my impulsive fingers...

Date: 2006-10-07 02:00 am (UTC)Now I'm really confused, b/c both times I've explictly put in the sony link. Pain in my ass website. I hope it's not a sign of the camera I just bought. Me and my impulses, argh.

Date: 2006-10-07 02:05 am (UTC)Aha, a lot of reviewers on amazon were bitching about it...but I tend not to always trust those, since most often it's only the bitchy ones that leave reviews. I just bought it for cheaps on ebay, so here's hoping I wasn't abjectly stupid. It does look like a good camera, and I remember my lessons fromm the last time I asked for help ^^; Or I hope I remembered them all.

Date: 2006-10-07 04:10 am (UTC)What you're looking for is A)size of viewing screens B)Megapixels v. price (If it's for fun rather than professional, it's really not worth getting anything above 6 pixels, unless it's a very very good deal) C) User friendliness in both taking quick easy pictures (as in if you're planning to take 'pose' pictures versus action shots, how well the outdoors versus indoors shots compete) and how well the software is handled. Be careful of 'slim' versions of digital cameras because often they're exactly the same model as the previous version, only much pricier and sometimes full of bugs that pop up because utility has been sacrificed for size.
err. and now back to your regular programming.

Date: 2006-10-07 07:10 am (UTC)I personally don't like Sony, but I have friends who do. I have a Casio Exilim Z750 which I like a lot. It really depends on what you're looking for in a camera. If you have time to look around, I'd check out www.cnet.com and www.pcmag.com. I know Cnet has a guide to how to choose digital cameras, and I think PC Mag does too. Cnet also shows where you can buy things online and how much they cost. Those are my two favorite electronic sites. (Yes, I'm a geek. In my spare time I see what new things have appeared for cameras, mp3 players, and laptops.)
Hope that helps you decide! And it's always fun to look; I spent a few months surfing camera sites in my free time before I decided I wanted to buy the Casio Ex-Z750.
