The guy that did the main speech thing at the memorial service, was saying that god giveth, etc. etc. and he capped that bit of it with "God's an indian giver."

Somehow, I don't think that's a usual comment for these sorts of things.

Whoa... Totally wouldn't expect something like that.

*laughs* Different take on 'the Lord giveth, and the Lord taketh away.' NOT the usual format. How did he handle the next line?
So was it a good memorial service after all?

Have you thought of looking for a different job when you get home? One that will allow for the care and keeping of a car so the bus becomes a thing of the past.

That's really very amusing. Not to mention accurate. The best sarcasm is always accurate. :)

I wouldn't think that your family, who in general seem kind of uptight, from your comments, found it as funny as you did.

I'm really very sorry about your uncle.

God's spokesman ? ? ?

God never intended for us to die . . .
anyon just needs to remember back to the beginning, if those original two hadn't been so grossly selfish we'd all still be skipping naked through the beautiful trees unafraid of any of our animal friends. . .
you need to get to know 'HIS plan' that will get us back there . . .rnw

Really? I always thought God was a woman.*hugs* Again. I'm sorry about your uncle. But you know, he's in a better place somewhere, laughing his ass off at the fact we still have to pay taxes. He's probably with Steve Irwin somewhere, poking an angel with a stick.

When my aunt died, we had a band play at her wake in front of her coffin, and after the funeral we had karaoke? She would have wanted it that way. When we tried to switch off the karaoke machine, another song came on. We took it as a sign.

XD For my state of mind, I have to ask... do you think it might have been used as a metaphor, or was he actually using it as part of the sermon?

It was just part of the speech. He was an old, old, old friend of the family, and he'd been talking about how hard it was that the family had now lost three people. I think he just wanted to make everyone laugh, since by that point everyone was looking kind of sad.
