Speaking of names
Aug. 9th, 2007 10:42 pmCause Mechante's email reminded me.
We were talking about names at work today, I forget now how it came up.
Anyway. Girl at work said a friend of her's (and the friend's husband) nearly named their child Harry. This would be fine, except the surname is Cox. They changed their mind, thankfully.
She also mentioned a family with the surname of Walker. Who named their daugher Sky.
Gods, there are prize names going through the firm. I wish I could remember them all.
Speaking of work.My building is rather open and lofty-ish, and just one big open room for the most part. Hard to control the temp. Of late it's been really fsking hot (well, according to everyone else.I've been fine....), so for the past couple of days they turn off all the lights to try and keep it cooler. Very weird to walk around the office when it's so dark. Amusing, but weird.
Aand speaking of offices, the one thing I really enjoy about taking the bus is daily seeing all the changes going on. I see buildings taken down, put in. I watched as they knocked the school down, now they've got the new one going in. An office building they've been working on for the past year is finally finished,and they're doing really whacked out shit to the road by my office. I ponder taking pictures, but my office and route to really isn't very thrilling. Just walk down hill, across street, do opposite at end of day ^^;;
Am very excited for coming days. Next week should be fun, and at the end of the month is mechante and sky and tsaiko and miome ^__^
Then a week or so after that I go to Hawaii. Yay!

Date: 2007-08-10 03:04 am (UTC)Did you hear about the couple New Zealand who tried to name their baby 4real? B/c when they saw him on the ultrasound, they had that 'wow, he's for real' moment. NZ won't let them use a number in the name, so they are officially naming him Superman, but plan to call him 4real, any way.
Yup.
I like it when they turn the lights off in the library. Not quite as good as swimming in a pool in the dark with just the underwater lights on, but similar. Unfortunately, my area is really dark with them off, and my cubicle neighbor doesn't like it. Ah, well.
Yay, exciting week! Yay end of month!!! ^_^

I wish I have friends who have twisty double-meaning names like that. Then I can tease them mercilessly. ;=;

Boy, did people have fun with his name. All friends though, and he never seemed to mind it much.

Date: 2007-08-10 10:34 pm (UTC)You're heading to Hawaii the first week of September? I'm going to Europe on September 13! So excited, since I've never been anywhere. Are you going to spend the entire time on the beach, or will you check out the volcanoes? (Geologist speaking!)
Sorry. I'm excited for you. I've always wanted to go...

Date: 2007-08-11 10:29 am (UTC)My workplace is slowly getting demolished the south part is nearly done : it's like there's everyday some small earthquake, I kind of like it, think it's funny (cause it's fake and safe). It's just the beginning though (rebuilding should be finished in 2012). What I'm the more waiting for is the demolition of the last floor (6th one, I'm on the 4th)!
